You think “eugenics” is a discredited practice? Think again, it’s back.

It’s a subject doctors, health providers and medical experts are discussing feverishly, but often quietly: Whether parents should undergo genetic tests, either before conception or after, to determine if their unborn child might have a serious genetic disorder. Hanging over the debate is the specter of eugenics—fears that the ability to manipulate the health of our future babies could devalue the sanctity of life.

A close friend and her husband found out last week that their unborn child has a 90% chance of having Down's Syndrome.

They love they are showering him with already is absolutely a thing of beauty.

Just can't imagine how anyone could abort any child.

None of us are perfect. And sometimes God lets some people be born a little different.

He brings them into this world so that they can teach us how to have compassion.

Hillary made the case for it with her recent remarks about the unborn not being citizens...

The big "Wellness" push is a precursor to eugenics.

As a sidebar, Hitler was the first leader of a sovereign country to ban smoking in public.

Scientists need to genetically replicate my teeth. Seriously. I have the genetically most PERFECT teeth ever. I'm not kidding. No fillings nor cavities ever. And I know it is genetic because my teeth look like exact replicas of my father's teeth who also NEVER had cavities or fillings.

I was reminded once again about how perfect my teeth are when I had a dental appointment and the hygienist remarked on my teeth and stated she never saw such perfect teeth before.

Okay, maybe the rest of me isn't so hot but my teeth...PERFECT!

You sound like my dad and his father. Absolutely no cavities ever-incredibly strong teeth. Also no gray hair.

I’m my mother’s daughter;-). A couple of cavities and I restore my natural hair color every 8 weeks.

Of course it is. The commies are feeling emboldened now that the U.S. elected one as president twice.

You could just be smart.

I have a twin brother — who has dentures.

I floss 2X/day and brush my teeth 2-3X. Never had a cavity or any problems.

Flossing seems to be the key, more so than brushing.

We have the opposite of eugenics now, we have dsygenics. The least able reproduce. Everyone with capability and drive is working all the time to pay taxes for the welfare loll abouts who crank out babies.

Meanwhile the smart and well educated have one or two kids if they are lucky, or none at all if they prefer, in keeping with fashion.

And, to augment that we import 3rd worlders, the lower the nation or broken non-nation area they come from the better. Instead of Japanese (who have our same problem) you get Somalis.

Net result is dsygenics, a program to lower the quality of humans in our nation (and arguably the world) .

When my wife was pregnant with our daughter, the baby was diagnosed with an almost certain chance of Down ’s syndrome. The obstetrician, a well respected department head of a large metro hospital, repeatedly tried to convince us to abort the baby. Specialists were brought in to back up his diagnosis and to let us know the extreme challenges of raising a Down’s syndrome child. We were told that our baby would be born weighing less than two pounds and fraught with care challenges. Our doctor was motivated by compassion; he did not want to see our lives uprooted by the daunting care needs of a Down’s syndrome child. My wife and I decided that we would accept the baby on the Lord’s terms, even though we were unsaved at the time. On the day of delivery, the doctor took me aside to prepare me for the certain eventuality of Down’s syndrome. My daughter was born a beautiful and healthy baby, weighing slightly over six pounds. After her birth, the doctor came to me and apologized. He wept as he relayed that in his 30+ years of practice, he had never made such a wrong diagnosis. He said my daughter was a miracle and in that fact we both agreed. My daughter Anne has a spark of life like no other I know. She is a champion of justice, loves the outdoors, and she is unafraid of challenges. She graduated as Valedictorian of her large high school class and today she attends the University of Notre Dame. Most importantly, she has a love for her heavenly father God, who has prepared her to bring light into this world.
