What are the chances this poor old mare was tortured by someone who doesn’t share the same moral and social values about animals as, how should I say it? , a NBC.

I wish I could take her. I’d love to feed her, wash her, brush her and take her for walks. Poor baby.
Got to get caught first. No witnesses, nothing happened...
Thank you - I was trying (and failing) to remember the namesake for that anti-cruelty law (Posada’s Law)
Did the kids get caught? I hope so...

Equine Lives Matter
I know what you mean. When I read stories like this, I feel hatred. I know what I’m capable of. I would like to say I scare myself, but I and me are pretty well-acquainted by now, and one of us would get the duct tape, and the other would get the shovel.
My parents had one horse who lived to be 43 before he committed suicide. He was still in his prime when we first got him. Moon Ace was a retired race horse. He was actually very gentle and not high strung like many other race horses. He got loved by three generations of kids, first my brother and sisters and then our children and then our children’s children.
When a horse reaches 40 years they look pretty awful compared to a young horse. People were constantly calling and reporting us for animal cruelty. He had no teeth left by the time he reached 40 and he had to be fed special senior horse chow. He didn’t like the senior horse chow very much and was constantly trying to get to the other horses’ grain. One day he somehow got into another horse’s stall and he ate a big portion of grain.
It became impacted in his stomach and intestines and by the time we figured out what was wrong with him it was too late. He was a fragile old soul and it killed him. It was a very sad day, but he had lost his long time companion Morning Star the year before who had lived with him for thirty years. We like to think that the two of them are running together in green pastures in horsey heaven.
And they should be punished.
It’s mean but they have thick hides

You'd have to find a jury to convict first. Just don't kill the bastards and I bet you'd wind up on probation.
I would be afraid to catch the son(s) of a b.... because what I would do would certainly get me indicted. I wish I hadn’t come across this thread.
They were caught, but being kids there were no real consequences. I only wish that they will remember that poor creature every day of their remaining lifetimes.
Well, I think you’d be okay, since you have a sense of decency that whoever did this doesn’t have.
I try to keep my Dubbers & my Cattbutt at home away from
such asses. We live remote & I don’t want to live in the
city. Teens can be mean trying to “impress” each other.
:o(
Sounds to me like a guy who’s lived a great life, but one day looks down at the tofu the doctor wants him to eat and says “The heck with it!” and goes to the steak house.
In Singapore they have a punishment called caning. I think that occasionally here in the US we could use that to good effect on teens who just don’t seem to be able to synthesize responsible social behavior.
Little Joe Cartwright rode a paint.
My wife and I have done 3 horse rescues over the years. One was much worse than the poor mare in this story. We were successful in all 3 cases, they went on to live long and happy lives here on our farm.
Some people are simply sadistic.
