They were caught, but being kids there were no real consequences. I only wish that they will remember that poor creature every day of their remaining lifetimes.
In Singapore they have a punishment called caning. I think that occasionally here in the US we could use that to good effect on teens who just don’t seem to be able to synthesize responsible social behavior.
They have probably graduated to doing the same to humans.
