They moved in, found there was a private range nearby, now they want it gone. And it's not just range noise, there are people with- oh no- ASSAULT WEAPONS and NFA arms! "We seek the following weaponry be prohibited by any non-owner of the property: military style weapons, semi-automatic weapons, or assault weapons capable of rapid firing, explosive targets or other binary explosive devices, high-caliber weapons, simulated automatic weapons or bump-fire stocks, and NFA weapons." This has been going on for a while. Their first attempt was shot down when they were told that since no laws were being broken, the town could not stop it. Now they are trying again!
I'm posting this so that the issue can be a little broader than "local". The range is owned by Wayne, who runs a gun shop on adjacent property, Waynes Weaponry. There is a gofundme: https://www.gofundme.com/pj3nhgqp
Our local range had some of those restrictions. The pussies on the zoning board made them agree before they could open.
This is not a club, it’s a private range. Wayne already agreed to no Sundays, but the antis pretty much want him shut down.
“The Police Log printed in The Banner each week shows your group calling incessantly about the gun noise. Why are you wasting their time with your complaints?
The Building Inspector has publicly declared that there are not many people in town impacted by this noise. The fifty or so families in our group know this is not true. When asked how we can go about registering our complaints when shooting occurs, we were told explicitly, in a Board of Selectmen meeting, to call the non-emergency number of the West Boylston Police Department. That is what we have done. “
“We believe there is a lot of misinformation in the community surrounding our complaints about the escalating noise from a private gun range located on Laurel Street. In an attempt to clarify our position, educate interested citizens, and move toward a reasonable and responsible resolution, we have built this website. We invite you to review the information provided and become part of the conversation.
For many years, individual neighbors and small groups of citizens have sought relief from the excessive gunfire from the gun range on The Almstrom Realty Trust property.
In February 2015, we began trying to work together. The learning curve has been steep, and there have been a variety of missteps on all sides. For many of us, this is our first experience with a dispute of this nature. We have tried repeatedly and unsuccessfully to address our complaints through the Police Department, the Building Inspector, and the Board of Selectmen. Weve attempted to work with the Trustee of The Almstrom Realty Trust, and his legal representatives directly, hoping for a reasonable and responsible compromise. Little has been resolved, and the situation has only gotten worse. “
Just imagine if our forefathers had such qualms about guns. We'd still be British and eating bad food.
ZILLIONS of people murdered each other before the dawn of the gun. I once made a list of how to kill people without a gun.
Cain "attacked" Abel and killed him. Had to be several blows to the head, perhaps with a hefty rock.
Guns are sure more efficient.
How about MOVING to a different neighborhood? Sometimes it IS worth it to move.
Why do I think compromise means eliminated?
This reminds me of the people who moved into Coppel Tx. which is directly north of DFW airport under the flight path and filed suite over the noise. They were told to put up with it or move.
Any time a progressive talks of compromise, they mean “my way”.
