According to our final polls-plus forecast, Hillary Clinton had a greater than 99% chance of winning the Michigan primary. ---FiveThirtyEight, 3:43 PM EST, March 8, 2016.
Oops! Or rather, a massive OOPS!!! The FiveThirtyEight blog is considered to be the gold (or rather silver since its founder is Nate Silver) standard in election predictions. So when it is so wildly off the mark as happened last night as Bernie Sanders pulled off an astounding primary victory upset in Michigan over Hillary Clinton, it is definitely quite notable. So how to excuse this error? Actually, credit must go to 538 analyst Harry Enten who did not offer any excuses which would only be laughed at. Instead he publicly ate humble pie:

Superdelegates. Notice that only the Democrats have them, not the Republicans. Therefore the Republican Party is really more “democratic” than the Democrat Party.
Hillary is buying the nomination so in the long run she will win the nomination. After she paid off the 70 million dollar DNC Debt, Debbie Wasserman-Schutlz has made sure that the super delegates vote for Hillary. Its a standing order. Or they will be removed as delegates. Talk about fascism
Ha, Ha! Long John Nate Silver was wrong!!!
Eating pie is Huma’s job.
This fix was in before the first ballot was cast for Sanders... Dems have rigged the system with superdelegates ... almost all white - and many paid lobbyist...

"The DNC doesnt allocate delegates by simply heeding the will of the voters. Instead they calculate their tallies from a combination of pledged delegates, which are earned from the actual votes of real people, and unpledged delegates, better known as superdelegates.
Superdelegates consist of Democratic officeholders, as well as 21 distinguished members, a group made up of former presidents, vice presidents, DNC chairs, etc.
In non-political speak, distinguished members are really Democrat political insiders and D.C. powerbrokers, not the everyday voters Democrats claim to represent. ABC News recently reported that, dozens of the 437 delegates in the DNC member category are registered federal and state lobbyists, according to an ABC News analysis. In fact, when you remove elected officials from the superdelegate pool, at least one in seven of the remainder are former or current lobbyists.
