Poll: Trump’s negatives among Hispanics rise; worst in GOP field

Donald Trump has used the issue of immigration to help make himself the front-runner for the Republican presidential nomination, but his harsh rhetoric also has earned him the highest negative ratings among Hispanic voters of any major GOP hopeful, according to a Washington Post-Univision News poll.

...

Today, 8 in 10 Hispanic voters have an unfavorable view of Trump. That includes more than 7 in 10 who have a “very unfavorable” impression of him, which is more than double the percentage of any other major candidate.

Those findings compare with a Univision survey taken around the time of Trump’s announcement last summer, when just more than 7 in 10 had a negative view of him and fewer than 6 in 10 said they had a “very unfavorable” impression.

Should Trump become the Republican nominee, his current low standing among Hispanic voters could jeopardize the party’s hopes of winning the general election in November. In current matchups with Democratic front-runner Hillary Clinton, Trump scores worse among Hispanics than any of the three other leading Republican candidates — Florida Sen. Marco Rubio, Texas Sen. Ted Cruz and Ohio Gov. John Kasich.

You can oppose illegal immigration without smearing illegal immigrants as "rapists", as Trump did. Calling Cruz an "anchor baby" and questioning Rubio's eligibility does not help either. It is no wonder that Trump's negatives among Hispanics are so high. They get to vote, too.

Didn’t he do better among Hispanics in Nevada than Cruz and Rubio combined?

And yet, strangely enough, more people agree with Trump than any other candidate by over 2 to 1.

Why if he’d just change his delivery to that of all the others, he could be pulling in numbers like they are.

Who knew?

Ah...the Washington Compost weighs in...with, well, compost.

We know the illegals fear him...and well they should.

But I know a LOT of legal Latinos and they, almost to the person, like what Trump is saying.

So, who am I going to believe? The Washington Compost, or my own lying eyes?

No contest.

"Poll: Trump’s negatives among Hispanics rise; worst in GOP field"

Except for the states where he's leading and or already won.

Trump sprung the lock on PC silence.

The more the liars lie the larger Trump gets.

Got it. Ignore the vote outcomes in NV that show this untrue and just cling to the media narrative instead.

LOL. Every dirty trick will be played before Super Tuesday. The Dems get the Hispanic vote more than two to one. Romney only received 27%. So the GOP solution is to import more Hispanic immigrants. We bring in 1.1 million legal permanent immigrants a year, two-thirds of them Hispanic and future Dem voters. Cruz and Rubio couldn't ever beat Trump among Hispanic voters in NV.

Don't worry. Trump supporters told me he will win the Hispanic vote in the general election.

If illegals knew what he would do on immigration, they would vote for him way more than Hillary.

Amazing article.

An ignorant one that's more interested in pretending he'll be voted off the island because of hispanics.

I find it amazing that he seems to be enjoying the same high percentage of hispanic votes as any other demographic the the primaries.

We know hispanics have voted for him in high numbers, that's fact. It's this article that's trying to scare us from GOPE talking points that's so wrong.

I find Cruzers (as opposed to Cruz supporters) who post this kind of dishonest bilge to be more than dishonest, and somewhat despicable.
