There must be something about Trump
Vanity

Posted on 02/21/2016 3:21:29 PM PST by NavVet

I'm trying to understand FR's embrace of the Donald, but I'm having a hard time wrapping my head around this one. I too had a favorable first reaction when I heard him talking about building the wall in absolute terms, and his rejection of the concept of amnesty for illegal aliens. I also admired that he was the first politician in a long time that would fight back against the media and left-wing attacks, instead of trying to appease the left. However, that admiration quickly wore off when I researched Trump and found clip after clip of the man, in his own words embracing every liberal talking point in the book. Planned Parenthood, gay marriage, abortion, government health care, protectionist trade policies, increasing taxes on businesses and the most productive. Of course, the man has taken the opposite positions on most of these two. Sometimes he will take both sides of an issue in the same discussion. Also, his "I'm awesome at___________" is wearing a bit thin. I want to hear what you plan to do, not how great you are. Then there is his child like temper, calling anyone he doesn't agree with , Liar, Pu@@Y or worse. Just seems kind of juvenile. The personality quirks I could live with, but a man who praises Nancy Pelosi, John Kerry and Hillary Clinton is another thing. And perhaps most important of all, he has said that his uber liberal sister would be a great Supreme Court Justice. Other than being a recent convert on Immigration this man has no conservative bona fides and yet have of FR acts like you would expect this board to react if Ronald Regan had returned. I just don't get it. If Bernie Sanders starts lobbying for the fair tax and runs for President on the GOP ticket would the Trumpets start feeling the Bern.

One of the historic truisms in the past several election cycles is the Cruz Coalition, as currently assembled, is the first to stay home when their candidate does not win. The socially-minded voter will never vote for a populist fiscal conservative/socially moderate candidate. Cruz voters, and their advocates, are emotionally driven by social issues. Hence they yell a lot (See Mark Levin) and only respond well to others who are inside their echo-chamber.

Consequently neither Rubio nor Trump will try to gain/court Cruz voters. Why should they; the narrow-minded group will never vote for them, if they vote at all.

This non-voting truism is why the GOPe ignore the Cruz-like factions completely; because rarely will the GOPe be influenced by them. When Cruz Clan get angry and do not get their way they do not vote.

The modern way to deal with that faction is to make them angry, and they leave. Example: Questioning eligibility sets them off easily and they lose control. They might even invite another sketchy character, Glenn Beck, to help showcase their entrenched ideological moonbattery.) See how easy that is? More exposure to the crazy = less votes in crazy camp.

Both Trump and Rubio will most likely ignore Cruz, as neither stands to benefit much.

No, you clearly don’t get it.

It has nothing to do with Trump’s liberal past or donating to or schmoozing liberals.

I support Trump because he has blown up the absolutely feckless GOP, who couldn’t defeat a community organizer in 2 elections.

I support Trump because he wasn’t in political office cutting deals with and consigning liberal legislation. Yeah, he donated to liberals and may have held their views, but at least he wasn’t in a position where it affected the people.

I support Trump because he is right on the top issues of the day: Immigration, Islam, and Trade. Without these issues, there is no America. There is no good-old U.S. of A. All other issues pale in comparison.

So I hope this helps. You can’t call Trump a liberal but yet ignore the fact that elected Republicans have done zilch at restoring Constitutional government.

And your incessant judgementalism and condescension out you immediately as an elitist. Which irritates you more - Jeb dropping out or Cruz not selling his snake oil well enough?

Heck man, if that’s all you have on not liking Trump, have you visited your local bar lately? You should, men are actually starting to act like real men again instead of little ‘girly boys’ ....

I was a biker chick most of my life, plus drove 18 wheels, you had better get out more if you haven’t heard the real men in life call a woman a ‘bimbo’ and much much worse...

The "Trump" phenomenon isn't really about Trump. It is about a pissed off America tired of being the worlds door mat economically. If you have to ask then you don't get it.

Trump is the battering ram. We the people are the ones swinging at the Establishment with a blunt object called Trump.

Really? Because I have been waiting for the Hillary onslaught. He spares no demeaning word or effort for his fellow Republicans, but apparently is too preoccupied or busy to go after Hillary. Only one of these two possibilities exist: 1) Trump’s 33% support in the republican primary electorate is so fragile that he can’t afford to go after the democrats (contrary to his supporters position that his lead is insurmountable) or 2) He chooses to only attack Republicans and not Hillary because Hillary and the Democrats are who he is most closely aligned with.

The man who has praised and donated to Hillary will now take the battle to her. And if he wins, what have we got. Govt. Healthcare, protectionist trade policies, trade wars, funding planned parenthood.
