More X-Files? Fox Exec Says No Plans Yet, But Would Love to Do More
Variety ^ | 2/19/2016 | Elizabeth Wagmeister

'The X-Files' reboot has been a major success for Fox, but will there be more episodes after the event series wraps this upcoming Monday?

While there are no firm plans at this time for a second round of episodes, with the ratings proof, Fox execs are undoubtedly discussing the possibility of ordering more episodes. Plus, the network has been promoting Monday's finale as the season finale - not the series finale.

We said before it aired that we would love to do more, and we are over the moon with the performance. So far, the response has been really encouraging, Fox entertainment president David Madden tells Variety, speaking in an interview conducted earlier in The X-Files season.

He adds, We haven't talked to the talent yet about Season 2 in any more definitive way than we had prior to airing the show, but certainly, it seems like there's an audience responding to the show that would love to see more episodes.

URGENT: Do not forget MONDAY NIGHT is the last of the episodes. There were a number here who failed to remember last Monday night - The Donald won over Muldar.

Cool to hear about the good ratings. We watched it with our 14 yo, and she loved the weird humor. M/S still have great chemistry. I would love to see another 6-10 episode event run.

They are out there!

More “advanced” life forms that have conquered interstellar travel. They are such intelligently advanced that we should embrace and emulate them. Some of these extra-terrestrial being can regenerate life.

Cletus asks: “Why do all of these life-forms embrace some form of socialism (for the greater good)”?

Thanks for the heads-up - I had indeed forgotten this. I was really looking forward to the X-Files resurrection, but so far it's been somewhat disappointing in the episodes I've seen. Mulder's snark now seems to be matched only by that of the story writers - if they're not going to take the premise seriously, why should the audience? I'm hoping the season finale (or grand finale, if it's not brought back) will make up for it.

They both look bored, like they don’t want to be in front of a camera, just waiting for it all to get over with. Seems like a quick paycheck and see ya folks out of here, for them. She doesn’t look so good, too thin.

It has had a few moments that were like the earlier years, but they’re few and far between. Not very good IMHO.

Coincidence?
Conspiracy! Will the plot be one to tie loose ends? There is still the son to be met yet. Perhaps this character will be a part of the new season (if indeed) one will be seen. Will M/S be scrubbed and forgotten and replaced by M/E?

Something is out there somewhere. Not too certain we should be searching for them. We may be walking into the lion’s den They might be no more friendly than the savages seen in the ME...with a much higher IQ included.

Always enjoyed the sharp wit between M/S. Mulder at this point needs to lose his depression and rejuvenate his original character. In the past he had a wise crack for everything. The two made a great team until the ‘love interest’ rose its head. Much like ‘Moonlighting’ when the two made contact the entire franchise ran a muck. It must be true: people evolve. Even characters.

The first two episodes had me really excited but the past two episodes stunk. We’ll see how they finish up.....

The last episode had a female red head skeptic FBI agent teamed with a True believer male FBI agent who spoke arabic. Any similarities for future show?

A reboot with a tweaked premise and fresh young actors would probably work better. That is what the CW did with Supernatural. It remains a steady ratings winner and is now in its eleventh season.

You bet. When Duchovny basically quit after Season 7, the show tried a new couple with disastrous results. Guess they will try again, except this time make them similar to Mulder/Scully.

And a note to the other X-Files fans, an hour later is Better Call Saul.

Last two shows were seriously silly.

The season started with a bang with the Roswell recreation, but as I have said on earlier threads Duchovny's bitter Mulder is less entertaining than smarmy Mulder. And Gillian Anderson just doesn't seem into it.

I'd hope they would put it to rest to keep it's aura as a great show, but sadly that appears not to be the case.

The only way they can possibly do that is to put some kind of closure to the first two episodes that involved the govt. cover ups. I thought the following episodes would have dealt with that line but I was sadly mistaken.

I suspect the series will continue with the two new young agents who annoyingly call each other "Agent so and so"......Give me a frickin break, he/she is your partner so call him/her by their first name.........Barf!
