Gus Arnheim & his Cocoanut Grove Orchestra performs "One More Time" on Victor â22700, recorded on March 2, 1931.
Bing Crosby is the vocalist.
The song by De Sylva, Brown, & Henderson.
Oh, I’ve known this recording for decades. Also have a version of the tune done by the Washboard Rhythm Kings, of all people. Crosby was really starting to hit the charts around this time. “Just One More Chance,” “I Surrender Dear,” “Sweet and Lovely,” “Star Dust,” all 1931, I believe.
To further add, only one more year to go (1932) before Crosby made his movie breakthrough in “The Big Broadcast” at Paramount. One of my all-time favorites, which also featured bits by the Boswell Sisters, Cab Calloway, Kate Smith, Vincent Lopez, the Mills Brothers, and Arthur Tracy. With comedy courtesy of Stu Erwin, and Burns and Allen. And the purty Leila Hyams as leading lady. Early radio-days nostalgia at its finest.
