Parts of the UK were covered in snow today after the coldest night of the year so far saw several weather warnings issued. People in Birmingham and the Midlands found their cars and streets dusted in 3-6cm of the white stuff, while it also fell across central Scotland, northern England, Yorkshire and Humberside. Experts are predicting the chilly weather to continue with temperatures plummeting to -15C this weekend, with more sleet and snow expected in East Anglia.

Fog ? ... yeah
Rain ? ... yup
But snow ?
Nope
My husband is from near that area. Beautiful country.
It snows there (I grew up there). What is funny, now living in Michigan, is that there’s a story about this when it’s only 3-6cm!!! lol. PANIC!!!
I have just never seen a photograph, nor a movie scene in England with snow.
I should dig into my Alfred Hitchcock collection ....
It snows at Christmas in London in the Scrooge movies. :D
When I lived in Surrey in the early 60’s, we had plenty of snow. And that’s just outside of London which is slightly further south than Birmingham. Also was there for the great freezing fog event in winter of ‘62-’63. Lots of coal burned soot in the fog making for a lot of breathing problems.
a few years back...
Ne'er mind ... I missed my meds
James Herriot and Siegfried Farnon were always having to make calls in the snow and freezing cold in “All Creatures Great and Small.”
Evocative pix at link!
Some great photo’s thank you.
Snow has always fallen though never stuck except in the high ground. Though this much snow and cold is not what parts of England can cope with.
Looking at those makes me cold and I hate the cold. LOL.
That much snow makes floods later, and Britain has had quite a few of those lately. But the photos are lovely, especially the old stone buildings and walls amid the snow.
Some of those photos are of saddleworth moor which is between Lancashire and Yorkshire and where Myra Hindley and Ian Brady buried the kids they killed.
Nice to drive through there until you remember that.
