It is horrible. We looked and looked. It is truly sad.
I was gonna mention that and Drivers Ed too. Could be an easy ‘A’ for some.
“the NRA offer orientation training as a first gun purchase condition”
Yeah because you have to be trained before you can exercise your freedom of religion... no wait... or your freedom of speech... no.... hmm
well certainly you have to have training before you have the right to not have unreasonable search and seizure... no? I give up.
That would be very expensive. But I would say that your’re an idiot if you’ve never used a gun but buy one and don’t get training. A gun is no use if you don’t know how to use it.
You must not go to the gun range much. Scares the (beep) out of me every time I see a ‘new’ firearm owner waving around a loaded gun, clueless about safety.
I don’t have a problem with a safety class requirement before getting your very first gun. And a Concealed Carry class with the laws covered before one of those permits are issued. Both of those are common sense to me.
Not everyone has been in the military or has someone to teach them about firearms.
I’m extra careful, if you someone even touchs a weapon, I don’t go down range. And I stand well away from the firing line when others are down range. This dude and his group were just plain stupid. What kind of safety instructor lets his class start shooting without checking to make sure the range is clear before he goes hot. Maybe I should have guessed by the way he had them dropping their magazines in the dirt during reloads.
Sadly you can’t outlaw stupid. I’ve seen dumber things.
Rule # something or other don’t be afraid to yell CEASE FIRE if some idiot is being an idiot, that includes an ‘instructor’.
“Perhaps someone should invent some type of floatation device for them?”
That is nuts! There was barely room for them all in the canoe. No way the PFD thing would have fit.
Your state is violating the Constitution.
I live in a pretty blue state
No kidding.
You know what? I can go buy a Backhoe, a Michigan Loader or a D-8 Cat under the same broad assumption that I know how to use it.
Go figger.
They ought to at least take you to a job site and set up a few cardboard Rachel Corries.
It may be regional, but firearms courses are plentiful hereabouts (northern Idaho) and every range I know offers some sort of training. The problem lies in that little word “require”. The ability to require is the ability to deny, and ceding that authority to the state is to allow the state to abuse it; to set sky-high, impossible-to-meet requirements and thereby shut down sales completely. This is not paranoia, certain locales such as New Jersey, New York City, Chicago, Washington DC, have already set requirements that would appear to be blatantly unconstitutional and in the case of DC, are just as blatantly ignoring Supreme Court decisions that say so. In short, what you suggest is to cede authority to people who can’t be trusted with it. It is ironic that these are people who insist that you are the one who cannot be trusted - with a gun.
LOL! I'm not that good yet... I'm still trying to hit beer cans in the KMart parking lot. It's harder than you'd think... After 8 or 10, you really have to concentrate.
a life or Two,,,
Get Training for
THE CHILDREN!
Yes. . . I am still trying to figure out how all my guns will get got on that speed boat in the first place. Not to mention all my ammo. . . I think a burglar will be was trying to steal them and will be was using the speed boat for his getaway. Good thing he will get got away scott free and doesn't didn't drown or burn up. Trying to figure out where the boat sinks sank is problematic because no witnesses will see saw the explosion. We won't don't even know where to look for my stuff.
re cleaning the AR:
I just read the comic book they gave me.
Blessed be the name of Saint Pancake...
You’re one of those people who doesn’t really believe in the 2nd Amendment. How many times have you said, “Nobody needs an assault weapon”? In short, you’re a hypocrite, and apparently not smart enough to know it.
You mean you do.
The registration lists will be used for confiscation.
Another good idea.
If every good idea is made a legal requirement, there will be no end to the difficulty and expense that could impede the gun owners freedom.
If it is not a legally imposed requirement, then different people and different businesses will do their own business as they see fit. Discounters will give the minimum service at the lowest cost, and those catering upmarket will provide more hand holding and hot towel treatment.
Most gun stores are happy to demonstrate how the weapon works, the NRA conducts massive training and safety programs (which costs money). But making training a mandatory condition in a free market will send some customers off to the competition, who won’t hassle them, or charge more for the training expense.
Training is widely available. Making it mandatory requires force.
