Merry Christmas EVERYONE! 1. Is Windows 10 worth the download and OS Change? AND 2. Should I Take my Bride to see the new Star Wars Movie tomorrow?
My wife had a Win 8 laptop that was chock full of viruses. I gave her my iPad and took hers. Cleaned up the viruses and installed a dual-boot with Ubuntu. Haven’t bothered with the Windows since. Ubuntu works fine for me.
I’d say “No” on the first question, to be honest.
I don’t know about the Windows. I’m happy with my Windows 7. But one thing I’ll tell you about the Bride [:0)] Do WHATEVER you think will make her happy. Have fun guy.
I asked an AVAST tech about Windows 10. He said to wait a couple years until they got the kinks out of it.
That's usually prudent, IMHO. Microsoft likes to use their customer base as their beta testers.
1 - Just say no.
2 - Is the movie on your wife’s wish list? If yes, then take her. If no, then take her out to eat. Actually, take her out to eat either way.
Yes, No (In no particular order).
Yes to both.
1. No. If you must, run it in a VM.
2. No. Watch the original instead. :D

I liked Windows 10 better than 8 or 8.1, but 7 better than 10.
I tried it and it is like Windows 7.
I only had one problem. No drivers for my RAID.
Other than that it’s like Windows 7.
Don’t know about Windows 10. If you do install, recommend paying attention to privacy issues/settings.
Do not recommend the new Star Wars movie. Saw it yesterday and was not impressed. It basically recycles the original movie revising it as a chick flick. Erratic pacing prevented any audience enthusiasm from developing. Would only go if no other movie interested you.

I was very pleasantly surprised at how fast and painless the initial upgrade went. You do need to take some care in setting up all of the permissions. Take your time doing this and use one of the numerous guides to preserve some semblance of your privacy.
Be aware that there is one major update that will NOT complete until AFTER the end of the rollback period.
As for Star Wars, I gave up on that decades ago. Star Wars is science fantasy, not science fiction.

Windows 10 has kinks? Who knew?
I was so relieved to get Windows 8.1 gone, I hardly noticed.
Except for a couple of face plants on unintended reboots, of course.
Have you looked at a Mac ?
Check compatibility first ,, my video doesn’t have a win10 driver... staying with w7...

(Put W10 on my notebook. Worse thing I ever did doing that. Took days to get it working properly again and third party software wouldn't work anymore)
I have Windows 10 on two laptops now and it’s working fine.
I saw Star Wars several days ago. Good, entertaining, well made film with a tinge of sadness for those of us old enough to have fallen in love with the original characters in the 1970s and early 1980s.
I have mixed feelings about this except to say someday you’ll likely be stuck with it anyway. My bigger problem is with MS and their embedding crap, which occurs in spades w/ Win10.
Funny story......... I had to resort to MS tech support to solve a problem. Poor little gal in New Delhi had to resort to google to solve my problem. If her superiors knew this, she’d have been fired I’m sure.
