Kathleen Richardson is worried about sex robots. Now a robot ethics researcher at De Montfort University, she's spent the last 15 years looking at robots "designed to take on intimate roles, that were once thought off-limits to machines—companions, friends, lovers."
While the concept of a robo-girlfriend may seem farfetched, there is the prediction that most of us—yes, you read that right—will be having sex with robots by the year 2050. And although sex robots are nowhere near mainstream, companies like True Companion and RealDoll have already developed strikingly realistic models (if you have any doubt about how realistic, look at the New York Times video). Some of these "companions" can engage in "conversation," and can even download different personalities.

A would think that these companies would understand that this is not merely a superfluous option, but that it makes the contraption less appealing. If they understand what to do (specifically including, but certainly not limited to, "Make me a sandwich" and "Get me a beer", that is wholly sufficient.
And, of course, the inevitable question arises: "Would Laz hit it?"
She is not looking forward to her life alone with six cats and box wine...
Easy. Just get a newer model "on the side"
Just don't let the first one find out.
So all those wealthy enough to afford these robots will have few or no offspring, while the poor will do it the old-fashioned way. Idiocracy catalyzed!
Wait till prostitutes come under price/looks competition from robots.
Of course, long before that, robots will require licenses, and be taxed.
The taxes thus generated will be used to pay legions of Democrat voters to reproduce.
