Itâs a sad fact of life in the 21st century that active shootings have become a regular occurrence in the United States. In other parts of the world, terrorist groups are using active shootings to, well, terrorize. While the media focuses on the firestorm of political debate these events cyclically create, Iâve rarely seen them discuss what people are actually supposed to do in these situations.

There is a cop/special forces guy that is trying to change all of that and trying to do talks at schools. Either flight or fight. Flee if you can, but not into a closest or room that you can’t escape from.
If you can’t flee (he is talking to unarmed school kids remember), fight AS A GROUP.
Me? If I had the opportunity I would take cover and then start shooting. If I didn’t - just start shooting and praying.
They probably did do the best they could under the circumstances. The whole point is that most circumstances do not give them time to respond in a meaningful manner, so the best protection comes from the potential victims themselves.

I have never had the mindset that a cop will save me from anything.
