The Smug Radicalization of the Left
Commentary ^ | 3 Dec, 2015 | NOAH ROTHMAN

Posted on 12/03/2015 8:04:48 PM PST by MtnClimber

The Democratic Party is in crisis, although few of its members seem to recognize it. If a Democrat did not occupy the White House, political media would be consumed with worry over the fact that members of this formerly dominant political faction now occupy fewer elected offices than at any point in almost a century. Relegated as it is now to coastal enclaves and urban centers, this is a rump bloc. The contraction the Democratic Party has experienced over the course of Barack Obama's presidency has coincided with the purging of its moderates. Only the most far-left districts and liberal states elevate like-minded politicians to high office and the elements that would restrain the party's most partisan impulses are gone. For all the criticism of Republican disorganization, theirs is a good problem to have. Unruliness is a feature of an ideologically diverse coalition of competing interests. The conversation inside the left's closed circle is a self-reinforcing one; dissent is hard to come by and is punished by the movement's most dogmatic enforcers when discovered. There is no better example of this phenomenon than the humiliating display in which Democrats engaged amid – not following – the attack on civilians that occurred on Wednesday in San Bernardino, California.

They have to be smug. It keeps them from answering questions.

“Still, the left’s expression of anxiety toward the NRA and the implication that the gun lobby was tangentially responsible for this bloodshed is nothing short of an unfalsifiable religious conviction.?

The wailing and gnashing of teeth next November is going to be epic.

One of my local liberal tv stations spent a lot of time talking about the plague of mass shootings in the U.S....which can take place anywhere!!!. The fact that the shooters were Muslims was not mentioned.

The facts are if you do live in black, Mexican, or Muslim-populated area, your chances of being involved in a mass shooting are pretty slim. The left likes to make it seem that anyone with a firearm can go crazy at any moment.

Who is responsible for saying the attackers were White men? That’s all I heard on CNN and MSNBC yesterday all afternoon, and into the evening, even after the name Syed Farook was being reported on FOX and was all over the internet. CNN didn’t report his name until about 11pm CST. Up until that time, they still had people on saying it was white men who did it.

They kept up the lie and smeared their enemy (white people) as long as they could

The good news for the Democrats is that their "opponent" is the quivering mass known as the GOP. The Dems still get much of what they want, even when their power is diminished.

I think we need Universal Background checks.

On immigrants.

The legal ones, we might mess up on, but the illegals are certainly worse than people buying guns at gun shows (which is largely a myth, the vendors here in Washington and Oregon have are mostly local shops that come to the show and they do all the same paperwork at the show that they do in their stores..)

We might need to update some of the old parts of the Constitution, modify that troubling ammendment ...

The First, with it's broad religious protections that the Moon God Death Cult is hiding behind. Maybe an ammendment that says "Nothing in the First Ammendment shall be deemed to apply to Isalm, where is hereby stripped of religious protection".

I dunno, seems fun to play around with crazy libs on Facebook with this stuff.

Maybe an ammendment that says "Nothing in the First Ammendment shall be deemed to apply to Isalm, where is hereby stripped of religious protection".

Actually, we need to draft a law that says "no organization may be deemed a religion under the 1st Amendment which teaches harm of any kind to non- believers, but such organization must be deemed a terrorist organization under Federal law."

Great column, thanks for posting.

Soon, hundreds of messages from prominent Democrats - including the White House and Hillary Clinton - sending "thoughts and prayers" out to the victims of gun violence were uncovered. That this obvious hypocrisy didn't occur to anyone engaging in this collective shaming exercise is mesmerizing.

"It isn't hypocrisy when we do it" is about the lamest excuse one might imagine and yet there it is. That front page was an embarrassment for all time and deservedly so, and the author is correct about how very revelatory it was. "God isn't fixing it" was an admission that the editors believed that the State, their own god, might, and a demand that it do so. That isn't a religion, it's a cult, and it's the one in charge of the Democrat party at the moment.

For too many on the left, the identities and motives of the perpetrators didn't matter. The targets of this attack didn't matter. The tools that meted out death on Wednesday didn't matter. For the progressive left, all that mattered was their preconceptions, their high regard for themselves, and their prejudices.

Evidence abounds: the immediate reflex to claim fallaciously that a Planned Parenthood clinic was involved, the blame placed on anonymous right-wing offenders, militias, in short, everywhere but the obvious: fanatical murdering Muslims. Further, the immediate attempted transformation of a terrorist attack into a plea for the pet political enthusiasm du jour gun control. Our Attorney General has been quoted as stating that this massacre is a wonderful moment, which will tell anyone all he or she needs to know about the priorities of the sitting administration with respect to human life and their own petty politics. A "wonderful moment". Yes, that is precisely how they regard it.

Mere (and impending) electoral defeat does not seem adequate to address this monstrosity. I want these people out of politics forever, out of the country, off the planet, shunned as the human garbage they have proven themselves to be.

the left will be in real trouble if this challenge to how political power is represented

http://www.socialexplorer.com/evenwel/

basically the supreme court is going to be hearing a case that challenges the districting for the electoral college and how many seats a state gets for the house of representative gets. if successful illegal aliens and children will no longer be counted when figuring districts.

Yes, but it will likely be our wailing and gnashing. This a-hole does not intend to go anywhere and will have to be removed by force. Just my hunch.
