A 20-year-old man was shot Sunday when he tried to rob three detectives in Brooklyn with a BB gun, cops said.
The man brandished the black weapon and tried to stick up the detectives around 7 p.m. as they investigated a Craigslist rental scam in Bedford-Stuyvesant, according to police.
The suspect quickly realized his mistake when one of the detectives identified himself and opened fire along Monroe St. between Bedford and Franklin Aves.

A friend of mine in the Marine Corps was in Chicago with his martial arts instructor and 3 of his instructor friends from Korea, if I remember correctly. Three young men tried to rob them at gun point in a parking garage. It did not turn out well for the young men.

He should have painted the BB gun barrel orange.

I wonder, if that were the case, would the cops have been charged with a hate crime?
Perp would have been charged with bad taste unless he was light in the loafers to start.
Although a black belt in Tae Kwon Do and Tai Chi, back in 7.14.95, I tried to duck a robber’s .32cal from 20ft, and got hit in the side. Missed all organs, bones, arteries, veins, nreves etc. Still carry the chunk inside the pelvis.

That happened on my stoop st 115 and Morningside in 1985 when a black kid from the flats who was on a Choate scholarship outreach and home for Christmas and tried to jack a guy for movie theatre money right in front of my building on 115
