A friend of mine in the Marine Corps was in Chicago with his martial arts instructor and 3 of his instructor friends from Korea, if I remember correctly. Three young men tried to rob them at gun point in a parking garage. It did not turn out well for the young men.

That happened on my stoop st 115 and Morningside in 1985 when a black kid from the flats who was on a Choate scholarship outreach and home for Christmas and tried to jack a guy for movie theatre money right in front of my building on 115
The guy was undercover and shot him when he tried to stab him
It was big news
It had snowed and the blood was all stark in the snow
Pitiful....I felt sorry for the cop
Shooting a 16 year old is tuff but he asked for it
It was all over the news that drunk Brit guy from the Post was out front all night

A coworker of mine used to work in DC somewhere a few decades ago and was in his bank at lunchtime to cash his paycheck (before they had direct deposit). Some idiot decided to try and rob the bank... it happened to be payday for the the FBI (the bank was on the same street as the HQ).
About 30 FBI guys who were all in the teller lines simultaneously whipped out their weapons... the idiot robber nearly had a heart attack.
