Sounds pretty interesting. Kind of reminds me of Jeremiah Johnson, one of my favorite movies.

Tom Hardy is probably the best actor working today. I know the movie was a little corny, but his portrayal of an MMA fighter in Warrior was a tour de force.

Hey, i worked on that so it’s not corny. What’s corny was Hardy’s Bane.

Wasn’t Hardy the guy in Inception? I liked that character.

I saw The Martian the other day and the trailer for this movie came up. It looked extremely violent. I’ll pass.

Jeremiah Johnson is definitely, hands down my favorite of all time.

"The way that you wander
Is the way that you choose.
The day that you tarry
Is the day that you lose."

The Revenant looks faintly reminiscent of Safarian's Man In The Wilderness. Also based on true events.

Wow. I thought this one looked like Man in The Wilderness.

Both films are based on the exploits of Hugh Glass.

Same here. Dark, disturbing and even though the preview was "cleaned up" to match the PG-13 movie I saw, it was still way too violent for my liking. Can't fathom what the R version would be like.

The title irritates me. I’ve been working on a book with this same name for four years. Dammit.

There is a great book, Lord Grizzley, by Frederick Manfred that details the story of Hugh Glass’ ordeal and attempt to exact revenge upon his trailmates who abandoned him.

Available on Amazon for .99 cents and I guarantee you won’t find a better buy on the history of the American West.

Those old-time mountain men were super tough. As an interesting sidelight, Hugh Glass was reputed to have been an honest to goodness pirate before he became a fur trapper. When the big naval nations combined against piracy in the late 1700s and early 1800s I guess those adventurous guys had to find another line of work.

I read that book when it first came out and have reread it several times.
