Anyone that has had to deal with those over sized rodents knows the only overpopulation control is the same as with a mouse or a rat.
They are extremely destructive and ruin wildlife habitat and haying and/or grazing areas. Flood roads and property. They will take a perfectly health aspen, a foot or better in diameter, 40 - 60 feet tall, lay it down and skin it and remove the small branches.
The county uses explosives to blow up their lodges. Some poison them. With a inexpensive fur bearer permit I shoot and trap them.
