For years conspiracy theorists have claimed that pictures showing Lee Harvey Oswald with the rifle used to kill President Kennedy were faked. Oswalds pose in the photograph, a key piece of evidence against him, appearing off balance as he posed with the gun and Marxist newspapers. The picture, it has been argued, was a composite of other pictures, explaining the oddness of the physically implausible pose, and inconsistencies with shadows in the image. But scientists using computer technology have concluded that while Oswald may look off balance, he could have stood that way. The claim that the picture was faked - and was a composite of different pictures has featured in Hollywood films such as Oliver Stones 1991 film JFK.

I am surprised that pictures of that era had the resolution are able to distinguish serial numbers.
You are probably closer to the truth. All of this fury is stupid. If you are a conspiracy theorist, then you will never change your mind, and if you believe the history that was written, you will never change your mind. Therefore, people bring it up, year after year, for an attempt to gain some sensationalism or fame...it is a fool’s errand at this point.
Agreed but this was a nice torpedo to one of the conspiracy theorists claims.
JFK killed JFK in order to fix the future with help from Lister, Kryten, Rimmer, and the cat.
“Hany Farid, a professor of computer science uses computational techniques to detect tampering in photos...”
Hmmm...I know of a birth certificate he could study.
Nope. It was smoking man from the storm drain.
Why was his trial going to be held in the basement of the Dallas police station? Common sense would say to use a courtroom.
ok....I still maintain we are an altered timeline. Only way to explain things like Obama and other oddities and keep sane.
Agreed. I was privileged to know my Grandfather, born in the 1870’s, He related a number of Conspiracy theories common in those days; i.e. John Wilkes Booth was alive and well in Texas; and, Jesse James faked his own death. It seems that great events leave peoples heads spinning. Though today I think that conspiracy theories abound because people have lost faith in the veracity of politicians.
That would depend on the film being used. Some black & white films had near-molecular resolution, way beyond the resolution of mere digital sensors.
LOL Photo shopped!
That sentence you posted plus a headline for another story about a turtle that read "Created" when it was supposed to be "Creature" and now...the website seems to be down. At least, I can't connect to it.
I don’t consider myself a conspiracy theorist, and yes I believe Oswald pulled the trigger and was the lone gunman that day.
But I don’t think he acted alone, and thought up/implemented his plan all by himself. I can think of no plausible explanation as to why Jack Ruby would kill Oswald, other than theories that he was blackmailed into doing it by whoever originally hired Oswald.
Was that after Spock’s brain was stolen, or before?
ISO 100 is about equal to 100 megapixel.
Oh darn. Now what will those conspiracy theory people do?
Being of school age and living on Otis AFB, I had the opportunity to meet JFK, as he came through the base operations office where my father worked.
I hold that the photograph has always been true. A man knowledgeable in ‘the manual of arms’ for a rifle, would hold it in his left hand, where he could bring it to shoulder.
Also, I hold true that if you are shot from the back, you do not recoil in that direction. I had that theory proven, in my time in SouthEast Asia.
