A little boy just two days shy of his sixth birthday was killed after he was attacked by two dogs and mauled to death in Texas, officials said.
Tanner Smith, a kindergartener who would have turned six on Tuesday, was severely bitten numerous times by two pit bulls around 7 p.m. Sunday while the boy was at a family friends Vidor home, the Orange County Sheriff's Department told INSIDE EDITION.
Tanner was bitten about 16 times, with one bit going through an artery in his neck, his grandmother, Melissa Phillips, told KFDM News.

worst headline I’ve seen today... Poor little guy.
So many dog lovers have become so feminized that they actually believe that "pets are people, too." No, they're DOGS.
In fact, it's because I'm so opposed to breed banning that most pit bull defenders tick me off so much -- their state of denial is the surest way to end up with breed banning! They deny that it is a breed problem, and instead try to blame it on the owner; if they really cared, they'd be on constant watch for and crusade against inept and piss-poor owners of pit bulls who pose dangers to the community.
Again -- it is very obviously a breed problem because in this case if the same owner had owned a different breed of dog -- say, a spaniel or a Pomeranian, the outcome would have been very, very different for this poor kid-no-longer, RIP.
Yep. That is one of the reasons I always carry when I leave he house, even if I am just checking the mail.
“The man was told what happened, came home and put the dogs down, police said.”
Weird timeline.
Try packing a mini spray bottle filled with pure ammonia. A shot of that in the dog’s eyes, nose, or face would probably stop him long enough to improve your chances.

They’ll snort you to death! {^)
Doing what they were bred to do, just as pointers and setters do what they were bred to do, hunt and point games birds.
Incredible moment lioness spares baby baboon after killing his mother
See baboons have nothing to fear from lions! Lions have been given a bad rap they are just big lovable fuzzy balls. Why if I was a baboon and a responsible pet owner I would welcome having one one as a pet.
Exactly. I hired a fence company to come out and build a fence around my in-town property because my elderly neighbor’s son or grandson keeps pits in chicken wire coops or on short tethers on her property. The fence company owner was accompanied by his wife...who showed me the scars she had gotten when being attacked by pits while doing a fence estimate in a more rural area near hear. Her husband came out, wrestled the dog off her and then shot it dead.
I demand pit bull control. (sarcasm)
People should control their pitbulls, yes
The owner needs to be put down along with the dogs.
But... But... But... I’ve been told that Pits are so good with children.
Chet, wherever you are, you were right about Pitt Bulls.
They are unpredictable and dangerous.
The Garbage Breed strikes again. I rarely see PBs in my neighborhood (too wealthy/educated), but it pays to keep aware.
Dogs don’t kill people, people kill . . . oh wait. Nevermind.
That could just piss off the dog. A good 9mm pistol is the best choice.
