Yale Study On Fracking Contaminating Drinking Water Finds Surprising Results

The Sierra Club should start printing retractions (something they’ve been getting a lot of practice doing), because researchers from Yale University have concluded that hydraulic fracturing, or fracking, doesn’t contaminate drinking water!

“[There is] no evidence of association with deeper brines or long-range migration of these compounds to the shallow aquifers” concludes the new study, which was published in the highly prestigious Proceedings of the National Academy of Science. The study, the largest of its kind, sampled 64 private water wells near fracking sites to determine if they could be contaminated by fracking fluids.

“[The chemicals] are likely not a threat to human health,” said Brian Drollette, the study’s first author who is a chemical and environmental engineering graduate student.

The Yale researchers found essentially no contamination in well water, and the amounts they did detect were hundreds or thousands of times than can be detected by commercial labs.

Environmentalists have long opposed fracking. One of fracking’s most vocal opponents, the Sierra Club, has claimed that “fracking has contaminated the drinking water of hundreds of thousands of Americans” despite contradictory research done by regulatory bodies, academics and even the EPA. This new Yale study only adds to the body of evidence contracting the Sierra Club and other fracking opponents.

The Yale study also bolsters findings made by the Environmental Protection Agency earlier this year that “did not find that [fracking techniques] have led to widespread, systemic impacts on drinking water resources in the United States” from fracking.

There are already a significant number of people who will always believe fracking is an environmental disaster.

Too many of our citizens lack discernment so once a narrative is put out there they will always believe the lie. For bonus points have Hollywood put out a few horrible movies blaming *insert your cause here* for natural disasters or illness and it’s a done deal. This stuff migrates into children’s television shows and books and the next generation can believe the wrong thing also (reinforced by educators).

Well, it isn't any surprise to anyone who knows what the heck is going on.

For those who watched Gasland as their sole source of information, it might come as a surprise, though.

A good communist never lets the truth get in the way of rhetoric.

Well - it is just one study.

I’m guessing the Sierra Club will be able to come up with a certain percentage of scientists that will say fracking of formations 8,000 feet deep contaminates groundwater at 200 feet deep.

I know an engineer who was with Baker Hughes and sat on fracking wells to be available should any computer system on any drilling device break down. He knows, at each well, how deep the well is and every chemical, etc., used in drilling those wells. He has told me fracking wells are so deep there is no way they can contaminate water wells.

He happens to be a freaking liberal and would be the first to scream bloody murder if drilling “threatened” the environment.

About two years ago on “The Five” on FNC, Andrea Tantaros drank a clear wine glass full of fracking liquid to prove it was not harmful.

the Sierra club is no better than its boss, who is an unquestioned idiot who does not know anything about anything as seen here.

Remarkable that it was published at all.
Remarkable that it was even attempted by Yale.

But I’ll bet ANYTHING the Yale study was funded and promoted and populated by Yale to FIND evidence of surface and shallow water pollution!
