....So we must ban human drivers. We need to do it ASAP. Once we have the technology, and self-driving cars are available, Wham! Down comes another tranche of glorious laws to forbid people from manipulating their own possessions in a manner that suits them. This would require everyone to sell their cars, I guess, except no one would buy them. So the state would buy them from you, perhaps, and give you a voucher to buy a little Google put-put that does 50 mph, unless the U.N.s daily Carbon Report decides that India belched out a bit too much CO2 yesterday, and everyone has to do 42 mph between 7 a.m. and 1 p.m., after which you can wind er up to 45 mph, if you dont mind your cheeks rippling from G-forces.

Does a leftist get to pick who wins the NASCAR championship?
No.
Actually we need to start teaching human drivers to drive without the excessive safety crap that hinders their ability to drive without it.
"I'm sorry, that destination is not authorized. Would you like a nice mocha latte?"
Just like the first cars, anything over (what was it?) 20 mph would be deadly to humans.
We are reverting back in time.
Soon slave ships will sail again.
I’d be surprised if they’re not already, around the Middle East.
It’s way past time for conservatives to start banning things the left loves - and enforcing it.
Exhalations will be coordinated ... too much CO2 released at once will cause abnormally warm winters and too cool summers.
So what happens in the midst of a howling Chicago snowstorm? Or even a t-storm with hail and torrential rain?
I submit that every driverless car manufacturer be required to post $10 million dollars cash bond for every driverless car to cover the expected computer hacks that WILL happen and kill the drivers and innocent victims.
It’s an excellent article but I couldn’t help thinking while reading it that support for government bans on people driving their own cars isn’t that much more ridiculous than the general political philosophy of the National Review in recent years. It’s not the author’s fault, all the crap that gets published in the National Review these days, but I still can’t help thinking, an anti-big-government article in the NR... my, how out of place.
How did it get past the Big Government censors?
See the global corporations developing “driverless” vehicles.
Yes, leftist supporters Google.
Hmm... The left uses their foodstamps to stock up on Fritos and Cheetos and hunkers down in their subsidized housing with the heat turned up full blast. Brilliant! Ban foodstamps, ban subsidized housing, and penalize layabouts who use too much gas and electricity when it turns a little chilly out!
Central government controlled cars are an important segue to cattle cars.
And they will come with “Sanders for President” bumper stickers already applied.
