A massive art museum that is home to an Egyptian stone temple, King Henry VIII’s field armour and a fascinating medieval sculpture hall has been named the best museum in the world by tourists. New York City’s Metropolitan Museum of Art – the largest art museum in the US – edged top attractions in Paris and London for top spot in TripAdvisor’s travellers’ choice awards. Home to some of the greatest artefacts, sculptures or paintings, these are the 10 most popular museums in the world based on TripAdvisor reviews from the last year.

USA, USA!! Take that France. /src on/Philistines. The fact that none of the museums featuring Modern Art, for example, MOMA or Centre Pompidou, made the list shows the utter lack of taste and imagination of the bourgeoisie traveling public. A picture of dung on the Virgin Mary is just as much a masterpiece as a da Vinci./src off/

It’s an amazing museum. I’ve been to parties held at the Temple of Dendur. And all of my college art classes were held there. So beautiful!

Being able to go to the Met and the other museums was a great blessing of living in the NY Metro area.

They really should have a Claudia Kincaid exhibit.

Really enjoyed that story as a kid, and both Ingrid Bergman and Lauren Bacall did fine portrayals of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler.

I’ve been to the Art Institute of Chicago which combined with The Field Museum was quite a treat beyond just the art on display and into the cultures that produced the art. The Smithsonian complex was overwhelming. Unfortunately I’ve only been to NYC on hurried business trips. The National Palace Museum in Taipei is unique. It’s really a privilege to have visited them all plus some others less well curated but still fascinating.

I went to the Met at 13 and saw two pieces of black canvas.

“What are these?” I asked my mom.

“If you look at them long enough, you can see patterns,” she said.

I never saw anything but two black canvases.

What a bunch of hooey.

To the art world's way of thinking, the fact that you're still thinking about the dung Virgin Mary means that the artist succeeded in his goal.
