Need help with a Surface 3 Table (connect to TV)
ak267 | 9-20-2015 | ak267

My brother just acquired a MS Surface 3 tablet. He wanted to know how to connect it to a TV and "mirror" the table image on to the TV (not wireless but with wires).

Any advice?

Go to the neighbors, and get the little 8 year old kid who hardly talks. He knows.

try CONNECT TO EXTERNAL Monitor

but unless you have a HDMI cable connected to the TV you will have to use a ROKU device or something similar

You’ll need to determine what options for plug in connections are on the TV and Tablet.

HDMI would be the simple way IF THE PLUGS ARE ON BOTH UNITS.

Next would be RGB Monitor cable.

We need more detailed info.

Only because a expert has not dropped in yet to help you...It depends on your tv, what outputs it has. I have a cheap tablet that I hook up to my 10+ year old Westinghouse LCD tv

You are going to need to tell people what inputs outputs you have on your tv. Chances are it will be a micro mini usb to whatever your tv is, if you have usb outputs, then it might just be micro mini USB to standard USB, and you probably need a audio wire as well from tv to tablet

Heres a good howto from Toms Hardware

Thanks for the help. From what I’ve briefly seen on the device it does have a standard USB3 port.

Mini display port adapter to HDMI input on the TV - in other words, once you have the right cable, it will easily hook up to a modern tv.

This is an example of the type of cable you need; please make sure it is compatible with Surface Pro 3 before ordering:

That will be the best way as HDMI will cover the Audio and Video signals.

Ok, first you’re going to need some pliers and a set of 30-weight ball bearings...

If both have an HDMI port, you can connect with an HDMI cable.
