Oh, right. The original was set in England. Good point.
Chances are, though, that the “new” Mary Poppins will be set in the U.S. - probably in an upscale Chicago suburb.

Black lesbian who is working for a hetero white family of oppressors, until the husband becomes transgender and the wife goes lesbian transgender and Rachel D. all at once and becomes the black husband, at which point Mary P. falls in love, becomes the new wife, and the oppression ends with the newly neutered male as the new domestic servant.

Bright copper kettles and warm woolen mittens,
Cordite and gunsmoke and big Viking kittens.
AKs and Armalites, metal that rings.
These are a few of my favorite things.

Never saw or heard of it.
That I probably would have liked now that I looked it up.

"Miss Julie" had her small production office (really just for 'busywork')next to my seafood sales office several years ago...she was a sweetheart, knew us all by name, and loved the Australian lobster "samples" we'd provide for her personal chef.
Getting to know her personal assistant pretty well, we'd get little perks like allowing our Aussie visitors to hold her Oscar (when Julie was out....there were limits after all), and having her talk Carol Burnett into giving one of her Tarzan calls through the wall.
Lotsa fun....

Can’t be worse than the original. Anything different would be an improvement.

Poppins had a gender reassignment surgery so she is now Marv Poppins. And the spoon doesn’t have sugar in it these days. Oh, and the kids are from Saudi.

Lou Reed would have liked that one.
He would have performed it with lots of bouncy bass and snare drum rolls.
