Walt Disney World announced Friday the 2015 holiday season will be the last year for the long-running Osborne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights at Disney's Hollywood Studios.
In a post on Disney Parks Blog on Friday, Disney cited upcoming construction for the theme park's new lands based on Toy Story and Star Wars.

The people that took over Disney after the family no longer ran it has turned it into anything but family entertainment. Walt must be turning over in his grave.
To set the record straight the Osborne Lights have been at WDW for 20 YEARS. You can still see them this year for the last time. Aside from the lights Hollywood Studios has been stale for years and NEW attractions are most welcome.
They shut down Indiana Jones?!?
I have not gone there for several years...but...I can still mentally picture the set and jeeps and rolling objects attacking Indiana Jones.
Memories are always with us when the events are over.
I am willing to “remember something new”.
Epcot and Magic Kingdom still lure me for special events...sometimes.
Never been there and have no desire to go, but I am curious to know what these lights are and why they have that name.
But why is it called “Osborne”?
I don’t know. I’d assume the family that sponsored it?
On the other hand, Walt was constantly on the edge of bankruptcy and an also-ran among studios and now Disney is the the most successful studio in the business. It's also the only studio that has never been sold.
Some guy named Osborne in Arkansas started decorating his house with Christmas lights. It got bigger and bigger until the neighbors started to complain about the traffic and crowds. It ended up in court and he was forced to take it down. Then Disney, capitalizing on the press attention, bought the whole thing and installed it in a piece of the park. Since then it moved around the park a few times and got bigger. Now they're going all in on the Star Wars world (which they're doing in reaction to the success of the Harry Potter world at Universal Orlando) and they need the space where this was.
I has a sad. :(
We’ve visited the Osborne Lights for 12 or more of the last Christmases. It’s fun and pretty and the snow makes it just that much better.
As an addition, Indiana Jones is still going on (though there are rumors...there are ALWAYS rumors about Indiana Jones SS). They closed the Back-Lot Tour (finally) and that area will be the new Star Wars area, along with more Pixar fun.
As long as they don’t stop the Beauty and the Beast show, all will be well. I love the show, but, always end up in tears at the end. :D
