Pilot Alan D. Purwin was one of the people killed, said Jack Snyder, an executive at Helinet Aviation, which owned the plane.
The plane, described as a twin-engine Aerostar, went down in bad weather shortly after takeoff on a flight from Santa Fe de Antioquia to Medellin, according to the Associated Press.
The crew members had just wrapped up work on the new film "Mena," Universal Pictures said in a statement.

The drive from Medellin to Sante Fe de Antioquia is long and the road passes thru one of the longest tunnels in the world.
High mountains and cross winds...sudden mountain storms. Beautiful area. Ive spent a lot of time there. Well worth visiting.
BTW the Colombians arent too happy about another Pablo Escobar movie. They are trying to forge ahead and put the violent past behind them.
Sounds like a hit piece on Ollie North and the CIA while Clinton gets off scott free as usual.
I’m sure it won’t be released until after the 2016 election.
Except he was likely drunk. :-)
I was just thinking of that film. I remember seeing photos of the plane falling apart in the air back in 1966.
Saturday Evening Post?
What is a good source for reading the truth about mena?
They left out is involvement in Operation 40/Operation Mongoose
RIP.
Not sure if “source” would be a footnoted authentic description, but there was to be published in WaPo this article— which was squashed by the editor listed there, who was a fellow Skull & Bones at Yale with GHWBush. Later published in Penthouse back when. Ambrose Evans-Pritchard,conservative columnist for the London Daily Telegraph was anticipating the article—and his comments were this was “the greatest story never told”. So, from that it may be helpful. Relative to Barry Seal, this article is good. Seal was killed by Colombian drug thugs with machine guns.

The Bush/Clinton family’s new “closeness” (Barbara calling Bill “like one of our sons, to us”— ridiculous) lends credence to the underground story of the dope era (which hasn’t really gone away, just changed players), since in the humint intel world you cannot be dealing with saints— always with the scum of the earth, and dirty money.
Correction— the aircraft Seal used in the Contra shipments was a C123 much older than the great C130.
Dennehy is 77. Arthur Limon was a real machine demonrat. The iran-contra bs, and not including the Clintons, ignores the ON-going cocaine trade that Billy boy let go on forever in AR, being a good loyal citizen and all that.
This is a bush hit piece, neatly avoiding the fact that Billy boy has almost no nasal septum from all the coke he snorted— described as a “vacuum cleaner”. And that idiot brother of his, the “rock” star (Where is Craig Livingstone today— maybe at the clinton library which Mark Levin has said has not release thousands of documents from the presidency) The problem with both dynasties—imho, the degree to which both were in the same crap filled nest.
Like to know how they can bring GWB in on this- since he had nothing to do with iran contra. But Jimmy cahtah and his powder snorting Georgia pals (remember Bert Lance, Billy Carter, Jody Powell and Jordan, all snow-blind, and don’t forget the BNCC bank scandal). Maybe Iraq thing, since we were friends with Saddam at one point vs. the ayatollah khomeini and iran.
This is more crap from the Left. On the same order as “Truth” with dan rather-not re-inventing his inventions.
The book “Compromised” is a great read and very revealing. It is truly amazing the lengths that hollywood lefties will go. Like oliver stone and “JFK” what a psychotic ramble.
Of course, if neither jeb nor hitlery are candidates the movie will die a well deserved death. The establishment is upset no one is playing ball with the the proper designated loser established once again in jebbie.
Thank you. I read it all and almost end up with more questions than I had before. Clearly a lot of people knew more than they let on.
Ok. It’s on my wish list now.
Lawyers in Love.... “Many is the slip, twixt the cup and the lip”. And, their lips are always moving so....
Is it safe there for a blanco like me to just walk around?
I’ve worked w/ Colombians. They say it is safe to go there. There is a lot of natural beauty and wonder I’d like to see there.
PS: those Columbians were huh-HOTTTT !
Completely safe...of course like anywhere there are “areas”.
Very pro gringo there but knowledge of Spanish is required as very few speak English. Getting used to the traffic problems and rules takes a bit of time. Crossing the street in cities can be a challenge LOL.
I personally like most places Ive visited but Cartagena although is beautiful the street hustlers are annoying.
