Federal authorities today arrested a former Madison County deputy for his role in the roadside arrest and brutal beating of a Tennessee handyman in August of 2012. Deputy Justin Watson, who quit the force in April, was the only one named in the federal indictment.

Wow. Looks like a friend who used his personal funds to seek justice for the beaten man was assassinated by that cop.
Upon entering Madison County there is a huge billboard depicting SWAT making a dynamic entry into a residence. Under neath it is captioned,
” WE MAKE HOUSE CALLS”
That is the mentality of the local LE.
Yea. How bout that. I don’t know if you looked at the series the writer did several mo’s ago. It’s an eye opener.
That’s why it takes so long to respond to a 911 call. Got to get all that cool gear on.
At the end of that story the Sheriff says this:
“But Dorning also emphasized that Watson is innocent until found otherwise and talked about the challenges faced by his officers, of having to handle the mentally ill and drug addicted. “It’s the things other people do not want to face.”
He’s dealing with an out of control officer. A murder likely done by his officers. Death threats, beatings, witness intimidation and more; yet he says the above?
Thats one place to stay away from.
Hard to believe this can happen in America.
He’s dealing with an out of control County Sheriffs office. I don’t know but I would think the buck stops with the Sheriff.
This kinda stuff didn’t just start recently. It is a culture in many, not all, well maybe all Police forces.
When I was growing up it was well understood that if you gave an officer much grief you were subject to be beaten. Or worse.
I guess people just got tired of being run over by power hungry bullies. With a predictable outcome.
“Hard to believe this can happen in America.”
Not to me it’s not.
“But Dorning also emphasized that Watson is innocent until found otherwise”
What an idiot. He doesn’t even know the law.
You are PRESUMED innocent until proven guilty IN A COURT OF LAW.
Why?
It is hard to believe because it involves a cop (and maybe his cop friends) executing a man and propping his body up in a lawn chair, getting away with it. They were so arrogant that they did not even try to dispose of the body.
Don’t they have forensic abilities down there? Certainly they left some evidence on the scene. A footprint, even. Guess local LE just wasn’t interested.
Just read the comments from the bootlickers. Then it is very belivable.
JBT ping?
Slap a sticker over it that says, “When you come to our house we won’t be home...we’ll be at YOUR HOUSE!”
Real piece of work. This rabid a-hole needs to be put down.
How can the Cheif just blow something off like this? When you allow a maniac to continue he just gets worse
There are some things you just don’t want to know.
It is the same in my personal life. You let it go and let it go until things get out of hand. Then it is too late to put the Genie back in the bottle. In my case, I just got divorced. Only way he could get out would be to quit. Which would have been the honorable thing to do.
Just part of the 90% that give the other 10% a bad name.
For any who may be interested there are links at the article to a series of reports by Challen Stephens detailing this case. Very interesting and sickening actually.
IMO without Mr Stephens doing the expose’ then this deputy would have gotten off scot free. This is real journalism that you just don’t see anymore.
The series reads like a crime novel and would make a fantastic movie. Especially if they can find the killer of Mr Klonowski.
