A southwest Florida family has been reunited with their dog after she turned up several weeks later in Atlanta, more than 500 miles away.
Michael Epstein told the Sarasota Herald-Tribune that his family's 3-year-old miniature Australian shepherd, Abby, was lost on July 3. She ran away from the family's yard when fireworks frightened her.
Family members spent the next three weeks putting up signs around Sarasota and even created a website, findabby.com.
Epstein says the family finally got a call this past Saturday from Fulton Animal Services in Atlanta. Workers there said Abby had been found several days earlier, and they used an implanted microchip to trace her back to her family. Epstein said they immediately headed north to retrieve Abby.
Epstein says he has no idea now the dog ended up in Atlanta.
Doggie Ping
I love happy doggie stories
:)
25 mi./day?
Doggy-nappers??
Just be lucky the dog didn’t stray into Koreatown..
Oh well, I’m the type of dog who will never settle down
Where pretty bitches are well, you know that I’m around
I kiss ‘em and I love ‘em ‘cause to me they’re all the same
I hug ‘em and I squeeze ‘em they don’t even know my name
They call me the wanderer
Yeah, the wanderer
I roam around, around, around
Oh well, there’s Daisy on my left and there’s Missy on my right
And Janie is the doggie with that I’ll be with tonight
And when she asks me, which one I love the best?
I tear open my shirt I got Bessie on my chest
‘Cause I’m the wanderer
Yeah, the wanderer
I roam around, around, around
Missing dog, dead lion, etc. The media is working overtime to find distractions from the planned parenthood story, the bad 0baba Iran deal, Hillary’s missing classified emails, etc.
We dish out a dose of aceapromazine before dusk on the 4th. Our dogs freak out over all the fireworks, gun shots, firecrackers, and even the smell of the smoke. Many dogs break their chains, ropes, fences, etc.... and just keep running in fear on the 4th. They don't stop.
After the first deep snow we leash walk our dogs around their boundry perimeter for the first few times so they get reacquainted with scent marks.
Somebody picked the dog up
Oh, don’t be ridiculous, his hind feet couldn’t possibly reach the pedals!
But, as owner of two Aussies, I’ll say they are VERY smart.
Welcome home, Abby.
Gorgeous,absolutely gorgeous !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
.
LOL! A German Shepherd would probably be a fine driver.
