It's a musician's forum but they talk about current events and politics, without really talking about politics. They're discussing the current water shortage and are dancing around the real issues, viz. moonbeam inviting the entire third world into the state and the fact that the "environmentalists" (who I suspect of actually following some primitive stone aged religion attaching spiritual significance to a turtle) are determined to return civilization to wilderness. Unbelievable. Liberals are truly insane.

Being a hobbyist musicians I read that page and several of the larger boards. There are a couple dynamics at work IMO.
First, Musicians, By and large are creative types by definition. Most of them ‘feel’ before they think. Thats not an all or nothing proposition but when you come acrss a tryly talented musician, thats where all their brainpower goes. It’s why they are good at what they do. And that’s not exclusively a musician thing. Einstein couldn’t be bothered to learn to tie his shoes.
Thing is, most don’t qualify as tryly great...But they will play the part and practice every trope/meme/stereotype to fit in. While they are doing that, to DO that actually, they have to ignore reality lest they slip up and say something offensive amongst their fellows. It’s self inflicted stupidity.
Then you have the whole Cali mindset shared by the vast majority of the population. They have been intentionally programmed for 3 generations to be what they are. Sheep that spout liberalism not because they know what words mean coing out of their mouths, but because it is expected of them to parrot what everyone else says lest they be seen is illiberal, uncool or something other than the special little snowflakes that their indoctrination taught them they are.
This is why the few remaining conservatives in that rathole have to either A: Stay in the political closet to remain employed, B: move to rural areas that the rest of the state looks on as backewards with other Goldstien followers or, C: be the ‘crazy right winger’ in the neighborhood to be used as the satan image for liberal neighborhood liberal children.
Reading that thread is an exercise in Category error. The couple people that came close to getting it right were censored or attacked and the overall mindset was typical liberalism. If you don’t adopt the feelgood measures we tell you to, “You hate the earth”.
I know there are still good people in that state. I realize that FR is Cali based.
They need to move. All of them. It’s lost. It needs to be fenced off from humanity and allowed to go roadwarrior due to it’s own actions. Eventually, shortly, the same people posting on musician boards will be forming extralegal enforcement groups and knocking on doors. Then the vandalism, followed by violence will begin.
Right wingers there, you need to realize you are soon to be their sacrifices to Gaia and their fellow travelers so that the will of Landru can go on. You aren’t ‘of the body.’

I walked the bulldog the other evening, and the water pumps are still going non-stop to get rid of standing surface water and have been pumping for several days now.

But, that's the liberal playbook. Freedom of speech for everyone, except those who disagree. And, that's not a characteristic of musicians. That's characteristic of all liberals.
I've actually been banned there a couple of times for my right wing extremist antisocial obstreperous deliberately obtuse posts.
