Cyclists Injured After Crashing Into Dead Alligator in Weston

Several cyclists were injured Saturday morning after crashing into a dead alligator that was blocking a Weston road.
The cyclists were riding on State Road 84 near Indian Trace Road in Weston, according to city officials. That's when the first riders hit the animal, causing a chain reaction crash.
Broward Sheriff's Office FIre Rescue transported four of the injured cyclists to area hospitals. They have not been identified, and their conditions were not released.

SH 84 (aka Alligator Hwy) is a nice straight flat road. How could they not see the alligator?

Inattentive lead cyclist should have steered around the gator.
I understand why serious cyclists draft in packs, but you are just asking for a crash eventually when something like this happens.

OK, I found another story that made clear they were bicyclists.
I do like the file photo of an alligator just in case you were the only person in the country who didn't know what one looked like.

If the report does not specifically indicate "bicyclists" or "motorcyclist" one can safely assume "cyclists" are pedaling bicycles.
By the same token, if an account mentions "bikers" one can typically assume it means folks on motorcycles, most times.
That is how I usually read 'em in the media.
