I have mixed emotions about this one. I love seeing rockets and hate seeing them blow up. However, this is for SpaceX aka the the Internet II.(aka Skynet).

It will provide high speed internet from space to any where in the world. So it will not matter if you are in jungle of the Amazon or in the Antarctic. High speed will be available everywhere.

Some people will say well what's wrong with that? Well it's a control freaks fantasy to be able to see anyone anywhere in the world. It will kill privacy.

You add the biometrics into the equation that are being introduced now. For instance, the finger prints on the iPhone to recognize you.

Anytime you query Apple's Siri or Google's voice search your voice biometrics are going into the Cloud.

Ditto with the wearables. It's analyzing everything about you.

Companies like Amazon are using this technology in order to predict what you will buy for instance.

The chips that do this are the new D-Wave Quantum chips that can analyze up to 2^500th power (more than actual particles in the known universe) vs. about 1 billion or transistors today in most computers.

The Quantum chips is what is going to fast forward us into the Jetsons era. I'm all for technology as long as there are privacy, checks and balances. However, that does not appear to be the case. Furthermore, the robot technology is really creeping me out.

You are pissing against the wind on this one. One rocket launch failure is not going to roll back the surveillance state or even slow it down.

For better or worse, our privacy is now eroding at an exponential rate. Even the words I am typing right now will be preserved for prosperity and people of the future will be able to search for and find them quickly. Also, my "anonymous handle" here can already be easily linked to my real life name by any government agency or determined hacker. In the future, it will be child's play to link "SamAdams76" to my actual identity and my descendants will have a complete picture of my posting history here.

To my future descendants, I would like to reach out from back in time to say hello to you all. I hope that you guys are behaving yourselves in your brave new world, representing your ancestors well and doing good things.

MIxed emotions here, too. I detest that Elon Musk, having delivered millions to Obama, is spending taxpayer monies on this. Obama wanted NASA to become just Muslim outreach so his bundlers could reap the rewards of his largess, getting millions from the taxpayers. I am sad our money is being wasted.

And I was worried about them nailing the landing. I forgot the launch part isn’t a sure thing.

LOL!

It may look hopeless now, but we can still plant seeds.

Hopefully, they will sprout in the future.

You never know, maybe it was someone on the inside that made sure this happened in order to stall it?

Oh yeah I forgot about that. Perhaps I wanted to forget it?

NASA to me is one the many pillars that made America exceptional.

I loved the movie “The Right Stuff”.

Sounds terrible. I’m thankful I’ve lived a good part of my life before technology intrudes in such a way as that.

Methane does not have odor. In pipeline facilities, we inject Methyl mercaptan for a safety smell before residential and commercial use.

Nor is methane used as rocket fuel.

That’s cool.

I had no idea anybody was working on a liquid methane rocket.

This was the ISS resupply mission?

Wasn’t it carrying the new docking collar for the American segment? Plus a bunch of stuff to replace the supplies lost when that last Russian launch blew up?

Methane is a bad fuel for rockets or cars. Its energy density is about have that of gasoline. If your car ran on methane it would get only half the mileage of a gasoline powered car.
