North Korea wants to attract ten times as many tourists to the country in just two years, taking the total to a million visitors.
And by 2020, officials reckon that the self-proclaimed socialist fairyland will lure two million people from around the world.
While executions by anti-aircraft gun or falling standards of living are what usually grabs international headlines, the country would rather focus on its ski resorts or sandy beaches.
There is also a new equestrian centre, a huge water park and revamped fun fairs replete with roller coasters, fast-food stands and a 5-D theatre. After a year of feverish construction, Pyongyangs new international airport terminal could open as soon as next month.

They have 500,000 prison cells and “fill in the blank” show trial paperwork all ready to go!
I have been to 40 some-odd countries, from African hell holes to most of Europe and a handful of Asian Countries. Am planning a trip to South America next spring.
I have absolutely no desire to visit North Korea.
Tip to perspective tourists: bring food! Lots of it.
food and toilet paper
And under the brilliant and wise leadership of Kim Jeung-eun, they will no doubt have 4 million visitors the first year.
I’ve hit aout the same amount of countries, having traveled to East Asia, Central Asia, Southwest Asia, the Middle East, extensively in Africa, Central and South America, and of course Europe. My bucket list has room for DPRK but I wouldn’t go there if it lie across the street.
My father got to see North Korea in 1952, I’ll bet he is not interested in returning.
It's a cookbook!!

I have heard about their “Roller Coaster of Death,” which is in an “amusement park” in Pyongyang. It is so old, decrepit and corroded from lack of maintenance that derailings occur regularly and no one with any sense will ride it.
Be sure you don't miss curfew.

Yep I’ve heard about the chaperones there. For those who visit North Korea, they assign you a chaperone who shadows your every move. You aren’t free to go off and visit places on your own, or talk with people there,,as you can when on vacation in other places.
While it might be interesting on some level to visit there, the experience sounds more trouble than its worth. And due to being shadowed and your visit being censored, you really aren’t going to learn much about what that place is really like.
Then again, letting North Koreans see well-fed tourists from outside NK, might shatter the narrative that things are worse everywhere in the world and NK is paradise.
