VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (KRON) A recently formed music group in Virginia Beach seized the opportunity to play in front of a stadium sized audience, and it was all for a great cause.
Members of the Hot Gumbo Brass Band decided to perform a mini-concert for frustrated drivers and passengers after traffic came to a standstill on Interstate 264 while police worked to clear the scene of an accident, Saturday night.
Many viewers asked 10 On Your Side about a big backup on I-264. Dispatchers told WAVY.com a two-vehicle crash shut down the westbound lanes of the highway at Rosemont Road around 8:30 p.m. Then, WAVY viewers began posting updates about how time stuck on the interstate was spent it was a traffic jam-session.
The Hot Gumbo Brass Band from Norfolk played while stuck on I-264 for about 40 minutes.
“This is what you do when you’re stuck in a bad situation, you make the most of it,” said one motorist who posted a video on YouTube.
According to viewers, even an ice cream truck joined the fun.
How cool would it be to see E-40 or Green Day break out its gear in the middle of I-880 gridlock to ease the tension?

You have been warned.
Good Lord, I missed the fun! lol
Sounds like an impromptu temporary hippie micro-commune developed all because some rinky-dink band thought they would provide so-called relief from a situation that gave them a captive audience. I would rather have been listening to a baseball game.
In 2012, I was flat-out stuck in a traffic jam on I-70 in Ohio due to a truck that had broken down on a bridge. I wouldn’t have minded a band playing. Some people were getting out of their cars as it was.
Where are they supposed to plug in their amps?

I think it’d be great if someone set up a portable stripper pole...and I bet some dingbats out there would go ahead and take the bait!
They call that "Unplugged". d;^)
