Tom Brady will be suspended by Goodell for role in DeflateGate, announcement next week
NEW YORK DAILY NEWS ^ | 5-8-2015 | Gary Myers

Tom Brady will be the highest profile player ever suspended in the 96-year history of the NFL.

Roger Goodell's decision is expected to be announced next week and it is no longer a matter of if the NFL commissioner will suspend Brady, but for how long he will suspend him.

In conversations I've had with several key sources who always have a good sense of what goes on at 345 Park Avenue, there is little doubt Goodell considers Brady's role in DeflateGate a serious violation.

The NFL is convinced, according to sources, that connecting all the dots of the evidence supplied by Wells leads to one conclusion:

Brady cheated.

Yeah, when the Colts were on off., Brady sneakily switched balls. The Colts were helpless with a normally inflated ball. Uh...wait....the Colts played with the same ball in the first half? ....really?.....Well, it was a close game right?....The Colts got killed even though the balls were inflated to normal weight at halftime? Never mind.

Tempest in a teapot.

Actually I think that the game would be more interesting if the players and teams could be more innovative in this way. all that this sort of thing does is to stagnate the game. Hell it’s called a competition! Let them compete on all levels. Let baseball pitchers put tar on their fingers. Why not? The batters will have to get better.

... Brady cheated....

He gets suspended for a year for one less PSI, while the Clinton’s scam $250 million from donors and the IRS and get off Scott free. America.

It’s all about your view. It’s clear Brady likes the balls with less air, it’s clear he complains a lot when they are “over” inflated, and it’s clear he rewards the locker room guys when they are “properly” inflated. And he did lie, Goodell hates that. Of course what else was he going to do? Admit it and maybe get suspended for the SB? But he did lie, and he did withhold evidence. And the Goodell is often criticized for treating certain clubs (the Pats specifically) and certain players (high profile white players specifically) differently. For his own face saving he does have to kick them pretty hard.

Maybe, maybe not.

Where is the proof that Brady caused anything at all to happen or is responsible for any of this?

He doesn’t have to conclude anything more than more probable than not. That is the standard the NFL is using.
This is the same standard used by US civil courts.

Stop being a shady-brady jock sniffer.

There have been a number of difficult issues with black and Hispanic football players.

Could they be making more if this than it is to achieve some sort of racial parity? Like what Holder did with schools?

Sure, it would fit the pattern. My thought was, why did he report get released with such fanfare after Tom found better things to do than a photo-op with Obama?

Maybe Brady’s guilty of a thought crime? That should be enough for a suspension. (sarcasm)

I think it should be eight, with four. But the under-bet will be four with two.

Suppose that you invented an NFL helmet that made face masking impossible but also acted as a lens to make the players vision more acute?

http://static.nfl.com/static/content/public/image/rulebook/pdfs/5_2013_Ball.pdf

Rule 2 The Ball
Section 1
BALL DIMENSIONS
The Ball must be a “Wilson,” hand selected, bearing the signature of the Commissioner of the League, Roger Goodell.
The ball shall be made up of an inflated (12 1/2 to 13 1/2 pounds) urethane bladder enclosed in a pebble grained, leather case
(natural tan color) without corrugations of any kind. It shall have the form of a prolate spheroid and the size and weight
shall be: long axis, 11 to 11 1/4 inches; long circumference, 28 to 28 1/2 inches; short circumference, 21 to 21 1/4 inches;
weight, 14 to 15 ounces.
The Referee shall be the sole judge as to whether all balls offered for play comply with these specifications. A pump is to be
furnished by the home club, and the balls shall remain under the supervision of the Referee until they are delivered to the
ball attendant just prior to the start of the game.

Well there is a range of pressure allowed. Maybe tom likes the low end of the range.

And if any ball was allowed into the game below that range, seems like it is the fault of the referee, who is the sole judge of these things after all.

Maybe the ref should be suspended for failing his responsibilities.

I was never a Brady fan before all this. But the NFL is really screwing up IMO.

Fortunately for me, I’d given up watching back when the owners ganged up on Rush LImbaugh’s owning a piece of an NFL team. So no loss here. But I hate seeing anyone railroaded like Brady seems to be here.

Hell, suppose you make a helmet that displays tactical information from the coach directly to each player?
