So they think he might have done something, but they don’t know...

Pitiful.

Play stupid Games, win stupid prizes. Reap it Tom and Belijerk should be suspended as well.

The Browns GM Ray Farmer was suspended for texting his own sidelines during a game. (Myself I would have suspended him for an entire season.) Belijerk and Brady should get a year at least IF the NFL has the proof!

He can just suspend them at will?

No, but when an investigation is conducted and a player is found to be most probably guilty then he can suspend.

I don’t think Brady generated any of this press at all. The Colts generated it.

Unless they can prove to me that Brady let the air out of the balls or ordered someone else to do it, why should I believe he did that?

Patriots also should be forced to forfeit their Super Bowl win and be banned from it for a few years.

The NFL is not bound by Due Process and does not have to reach a determination of guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.

Ho hum. If they stripped the Patriots of the Super Bowl title, that would be appropriate punishment.

Eight games. Brady will do an auto-de-fe and it will be reduced to four games. Under: Four games, reduced to two. Contrary to what New England fans are saying, this is cheating, and it was serious. The ball has a regulation size and weight for a reason. It's not nothing to cheat in a playoff game or games.

More probable than not, i.e. more likely than not, is known as a preponderance of the evidence, which is the standard of proof in civil cases.

He wasn’t found most probably guilty.

“Wells wrote that investigators also concluded “it is more probable than not that Tom Brady was at least generally aware of the inappropriate activities of McNally and Jastremski involving the release of air from Patriots game balls.”

That sounds pretty damn weak to me.

If the ball was deflated, wouldn’t the game official have noticed if it was such a big deal?

If that were the case, Brady would have been even more aware of the PSI of the football, as well as the receivers.

He had to grasp the fb more so than the official.

Not a Patriots fan or hater. Just putting my 2 cents in. I doubt ANY pro team in any sport has never tried shave the odds in their favor in some way. Baseball has been known for sloping the baselines foul against visitors with good bunting teams. What about the old “spit ball” controversy, manifest in modern times by loading up a ball with Vaseline? Or nicking balls so a curve will bite more? Is a home field/ court advantage unfair to the point it compromises the game. . . and don’t forget the Mississippi State cowbells? What about the NASCAR motor magicians who look for ways to gain an advantage? What about roughing up an opponent on the basketball court or trash talking to get in a good player’s head?

Folks, bending/stretching (and yes even breaking) the rules is, and has been, a part of sport for a long time. Brady probably deserves a little punishment, but it is NOT the federal case that many in the media, and some Patriot haters, make it out to be. Slap him on the wrist, threaten even more severe punishment, and let’s settle it on the field, not in the argument.

Something crossed my mind.

There have been a number of difficult issues with black and Hispanic football players.

Could they be making more if this than it is to achieve some sort of racial parity? Like what Holder did with schools?

I haven’t followed this too closely. I know they had texts between two of the equipment guys from previous games talking about how Brady was always on them about how the balls were inflated too much.

But doesn’t the NFL allow some leeway in how much the balls are inflated. Is there any evidence Brady told them to deflate the balls more than is legal? Did either of them tell him the balls he complained about were at the minimum allowed? Or is it possible that they were inflated too highly and could be deflated and still remain within the rules?

More important, is there any evidence he ever told them to take balls that had been inspected by the refs and secretly deflate them below the minimum?
