Alabama wife shot by police after she guns down husband in self-defense: cops
BY DOYLE MURPHY
An Alabama woman blasted her crazed husband in self-defense and then was shot in the hip by a cop, authorities said.
Lisa Skinner was still holding a shotgun on Sunday evening when she spun to face a Huntsville police officer, who opened fire when she didnt immediately drop the weapon, police said.
The whole situation was just unfortunate for everyone involved, police spokesman Lt. Darryl Lawson told the Daily News.

Did the cop who showed up have absolutely no idea of what was happening? Was he not briefed by the 911 operator who took the mother’s call?
I’m reserving judgement on this shooting...but the cop POSSIBLY may be too much of a pussy to be a cop. Or maybe it was a righteous shooting. I guess we’ll find out.
good cop or bad cop, what a lousy job. Had a fiend who had his gun taken from holster in bathroom of precinct and shot three times. he lived but God was he racist after that
Somebody bust in your back door and has a gun, theyre not there to play rummy with you, [Police Spokesman] Lawson said.”
Lt. Darryl Lawson for Attorney General. This guy gets it!
A good guy points a shotgun at me (presuming that her story holds up) and it probably won’t have a happy ending for either of us.
Cop does sound like he needs more time on the range.
Gosh I wonder how the reporter and this paper lean on the 2nd Amendment? I don't usually consider a self defense shooting gunning down someone.
Unfortunate.
Never point a gun at an armed person unless you are shooting that person.
I was taught to call 911 and put the gun out of reach before the police arrive to avoid exactly this situation.
A few years back a guy called police to report a home invasion only to panic and open fire on the cops when they arrived. Fortunately he didn’t hit anything and the cops didn’t fire back. The cops wrote it up as an accidental discharge.
I posted this last July when I noticed the new anti-gun phrasing which is creeping into news stories.

Gunned down? I notice the left are all adopting gunfire as the new word for someone being shot.
In this case a stray bullet hit him while he was asleep in bed, but I wouldn’t describe it as being gunned down.

Didn’t go further than the post, but the cop may have been a gal. They tend to pull the gun out a wee bit faster due to size, strength and things making them fearful faster than a guy.
It is unwise to do that.
You don’t know if someone is playing possum.
You don’t know that they aren’t waiting to pull a weapon on you trying to fool you.
You don’t always know if they are the only one around, if other multiple assailants are nearby and regrouping.
Hell, sometimes the attackers dress up like cops/deputies. Under a stressful situation you may not get a clue about something really being wrong until it’s too late.
She spun around and didn’t drop her weapon. Even if I was aware of what was happening I would probably interpret that she might be a danger to me and shoot her as well.
For months the local conservative talk station (KSFO) has had an add touting their breaking news services that is about 80% recorded snips of an “active shooter situation”. The sheer number of times you would hear this ad in a day would subconsciously lead the average tax slave to think these things were daily freakin’ occurrences. That ad drives me nuts...
During a recent address to the IDF General Staff Forum leading up to Israels independence Day, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated, the meaning of independence in my eyes is the ability to defend yourself.
Excellent post.
What an effing pussy. What Tuco said.
We get it. Every peasant is "guilty until proven innocent".
