Howdy all! Hope your April 15th was too taxing! [Pause for big laffs.]
Getting back on-topic, here's more heavy metal from the alleged country song writer. You are welcome to shout "yee-haw!" as you headbang.
The usual nonsense:
1. I write and record my music under the name "Hopalong Ginsberg." It's more "Metal" that way.
2. Yeah, I know what my voice sounds like. Now you do too. Don't we both feel smarter for the experience?
3. If you'd like a free MP3 copy of the song, click either here or here. Do not click here if you are easily shocked, I beg you.
4.

Hopalong Ginsberg Ping List
FReepmail me to get on or off the Hopalong Ginsberg Ping List.
Needs coffee.. ;-)
Very cool sounds. Thanks.
You’re very welcome.
How about BRAWNDO!
Thanks. Keep up the good work. I confess: I clicked on the link that you warned that nobody should ever, ever click. The two bears were fighting. That was too funny.
Umm.. Maybe..
Hey, is your bass-playing cat available? We need someone who plays that guitar with the really fat strings...
(Of course, some people thing the band needs way more than that.. ;-)
*chuckle* That’s what it was there for.
Good stuff, as always....keep it coming.. Hopalong :-)
(the comedic cantor of FR)
LOL! I like that!
Good song. With a rougher vocalist and with OUT the second guitar solo it could go places. I found the second solo gratuitous and self-indulgent. The vocals were...weak.
Lyrics were bordering on profound, but bore no relation to the song title. “Who Weeps” might work a bit better.
JMHO as an old school metalhead.
Thank you for your comments, and I mean that sincerely. Let me address them in order.
1. WRT my voice, it’s the only one I’ve got. It’s also the primary reason that I’m a songwriter and not a singer.
2. The second solo: Given that the video is a demo, all the solos are basically placeholders. Anyone who covers it is welcome to replace it with anything they want, including 16 bars of armpit farting sounds. (Also, I tend to associate heavy metal with wretched excess, so I decided to have some fun with it.)
3. The title came from the original rhythm guitar pattern, which was the Morse code for S-O-S, but which I dropped because it just didn’t fit well with the rest of the song. I kept the title because the song is about both a message coming from a great (metaphorical) distance, and about mourning the loss of human life, arguably G-d’s greatest creation.
!) I understand that, and thought I was being supportive of your song WRITING.
2) I only listened to the song. If there was a video, I didn’t see it.
3) Titles are also subjective. You have your leanings, I have mine, others have theirs.
I LIKE the song. Its structure, rhythm and cadence work quite well. The lyrics are GOOD!
I enjoy the vast majority of your posts here, and would feel extreme loss if you LEFT (ha ha) us, or put me on your ignore list...
I only meant constructive input, not a diss.
I know you were being constructive (and complimentary of my writing), and I appreciate it. If my response sounded otherwise, then I expressed myself poorly. Sorry.
By video I meant the one-frame video I use so I can put the thing on YouTube.
I’m not going anywhere, and you are NOT going on my ignore list. Thanks for the egoboo, and PLEASE keep commenting on my songs!
Not to worry, FRiend. I am well into my second growler of the evening (I work nights for the next 2 weeks and have to adjust my internal clock) and likely took umbrage at an imaginary slight.
Keep up the good work, as I do enjoy it.
G_d bless us all.
"What Hath G-d Wrought?" - yet another heavy metal song, by Yours Truly [vanity]
Hopalong sings again!
Thanks, Slings and Arrows.
You’re welcome, and many thanks for pinging your list.
More modern music.
You’re welcome for the ping. I sure like the photo of you and your cat! Didn’t know it sang-along.
