I have made an observation about news stories - whenever I know anything at all about the story, I can identify obvious mistakes. This is because news reporters are by and large quite stupid and not detail oriented. It makes me wonder how much news at all levels is flat out false.
FWIW, Fort Riley is not a ‘Manhattan facility’. It is closer to other cities (adjacent to some of them), and Manhattan is not the ‘military town’ next to FT Riley...Junction City is.

It’s a good thing all of these wannabe shaheeds somehow manage to (1) not be clever enough to turn black powder and propane tanks into bombs and (2) always seem to find FBI agents instead of real black-market arms dealers. That is unless this is a case of entrapment and the FBI actually radicalized the fellow as well as selling him fake explosives.
