ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) The University of New Mexicos student paper has started using new pronouns for people who dont identify as a man or a woman.
I thought that was ridiculous, said Samantha Peters.
I think the names are kind of funny, said Paul Talley.
I feel its weird, said Michael Peters.
The names zi and zir have people on UNMs campus talking.
Thursday, the universitys newspaper, The Daily Lobo, explained in an editorial it will now be using the two words as pronouns when writing about people who dont identify as a male or a female.
The only non gender pronoun option we have is it and it has a lot of really negative connotations, said The Daily Lobo Editor-In-Chief Jyllian Roach. When you call someone an it you are basically making them an object. You are saying theyre not even good enough to be a person.
Why zi and zir?
Roach said someone the paper recently interviewed didnt identify as a man or a woman meaning the newspaper couldnt call the person a he or she.
They had specifically requested we use they and them and in print thats really hard to do, said Roach.
After hours of research and talking with the LGBT community the staff chose zi and zir.
Essentially it boils down to the University of NM's daily newspaper will no longer use the words he or she for people that don't identify as a man or woman. They will use zi and zir.
It's a crazy world we live in.
won’t people confuse “zi” with “she” and “zir” with “sir”, and call someone by the wrong pronoun and create meltdowns among liberals, as they offend the sensibilities of the LGBT peoples????
Zit works.

Why not just use the word “it”
This is what the editor of the newspaper thinks:
The only non gender pronoun option we have is it and it has a lot of really negative connotations, said The Daily Lobo Editor-In-Chief Jyllian Roach. When you call someone an it you are basically making them an object. You are saying theyre not even good enough to be a person.
> Why not just use the word it
That’s what I’ve referred to trannies as forever...it
I actually feel sorry for the son as he was always a nice kid and I think the father actually pushed this belief on him. The father wanted a “cause” and thinks he's the hero of all gay or transgender people, although he is straight.
Anyway--; no kidding— because my husband was so angry with the way he treated me he stops before he gets to his section of the sidewalks and didn't snowblow his sidewalk. The freak said we were discriminating! Good thing we live in a neighborhood that thinks he's as nuts as we do! The wife is nice but very quiet, sometimes I wonder about abuse but have seen no bruises, etc My husband spoke with the son on college break and said “I have no problem with you but your father will not talk to my wife like that”. The kid said “ he's over the top I know. You guys can call me by my name like always and I hope you don't hate me.” No, JH we don't hate you, but your father is brainwashing you!

Jeez...at least they could have had the decency to use “zu” and “zurn”!
I was thinking about this subject 2 days back... ever notice how some language commandeerers in media intentionally assign language to infer female sex to babies and pets... when there is no basis or need to?
That is some story. I would recommend staying as far as possible from the liberal freakshow next door. It sounds like the type of household that would host a murder-suicide.
Agree, and/or might attack the neighbors.
Well that's really ignorant...That still identifies male and female, whichever is assigned to each word...
Why not call them all a 'ZIT'???
Zi? Zir? Sounds like names from a low budget sci fi movie.
I want to see more of this so eventually such publications are only readable by barking moonbats.
That’s just plain silly.
In mammals, the absence of a Y chromosome causes biological femaleness. Thus, individuals who do not have a Y chromosome should be called “she.”
In mammals, the presence of a Y chromosome almost always causes biological maleness (there are rare exceptions). Thus, individuals who have a Y chromosome should be called “he.”
(The rare exceptions occur when a biologically male embryo has a genetic condition that prevents male features from developing normally—for instance, he cannot respond to testosterone, and thus remains physically more female-like than male. These individuals do not develop as normal females—they cannot have babies—however, they live and grow as girls and are unaware that they are genetically male until medical problems develop. These individuals should probably be called “she” despite the Y chromosome.)
Zit happens.
zi = he? zir = sir? All queers are male now?
My first reaction to that statement was that anyone that mutilates themselves to the degree that he/she is now "transgender" has already said that they no longer want to be a complete human. And if the person is just dressing up in clothes of the opposite sex, that person is still an original "he" or "she", regardless of their "identity".
Oh. my. Now we'll have them scrambling for their safe place. Oh, my. /s/
“Zoo” is more like it.
