I'm glad I went to see this movie. I almost didn't. I usually prefer movies with a more coherent storyline and message. I like dialog that is clear, cogent and concise. I approve of special effects that are both sublime and based in reality. I expect to see a straight line of cause and effect to some degree. Furious 7 is none of those things. The premise is illogical, where a no longer needed British spy 'Deckart Shaw' goes rogue and seeks revenge against Dominic Toretto and his gang family for the death of his brother, a well known criminal.
I was in the mood for a complete distraction from everyday life, and this movie filled the void to excess. There were special effects galore, along with some fantastic stunt driving. I recall seeing groups of jeeps leaping over a rocky ravine. Jumping in unison like a pack of hungry wolves. I recall the spectacular sense of when the Gang decided to remove a car off of a top floor of a skyscraper. They could'nt use the car elevators, so they drove it THROUGH the glass window, sailing through the air like a flying squirrel, only to crash through the windows of the next TWO glass towers. Of course it was impossible, but damn, was it ever entertaining! The movie made an effort to balance all this brutal accelerated strength with many light touches of both humor and romance. Michelle Rodriquez, the hispanic woman who plays Dominic's amnesia-stricken wife (who also races cars, and clocks a man with a mean right hook) is a good actress. I like her voice, the way she inhabits her character, and would like to see more of her.
I did not see any of the previous Furious movies, but in my opinion, the franchise will survive just fine without Paul Walker. He was good, and fun, but not essential to the plot. You know what really surprised me? To see Kurt Russell in this movie. Yes, Kurt Russell, former Disney child star and Goldie Hawn's man for the last 30 years. Kurt played "Mr Nobody", a government liason. He provided a good balance to the ranchy wildness that made up most of this little world.
Reserved seating for a film! Nice.
People are notorious litter bugs when the lights are out.
Among the worst mistakes to make would be to place your empty metal soda can on the floor next to you. Chances are, your foot will knock it over, and send that tin can slowly and nosily rolling all the way down to the front row seats.
Heads will be turning.
Diesel owns the Riddick character:

I think he is looking at another installment. In the extended version of “Riddick” he went back to the ship - so I think they opened the door.
“Or Ronin”
I used the chase scenes in Ronin to purchase my surround sound system.
What I like about the F&F franchise is it is completely mindless entertainment. I get a tub of popcorn, a coke and for two hours I forget about my week.
I was surprised to read that the Riddick Chronicles weren’t very successful.
The movie was a blast! I really enjoyed it, along with my 14 year old son...
But seriously, it was fun!
Caught that several years ago and watch for it every time I watch the movie.
Agreed. I cannot watch a movie with that crap. Could not watch Sin City or 300.
Make and film it real of get ignored.
The bottom gif reminds me of Cynthia Rothrock kung fu movies that chick was is of the hook
They go to great lengths in the Special Features section to show how they coreographed and filmed each of the action stunt scenes... part of the reason the film cost so much to produce.
I guess it is relative. Riddick tripled the cost to make it. But reading this last movie was successful enough they want a 4th.
Oh my. Thanks for the advice! Ha. Because I so would have bought one!!
