Rove also keyed on Cruz's attempt to separate himself from other Republican hopefuls: "He's come up with a label that might in some quarters be considered a disadvantage and turned it into an advantage... He says I want to lead a movement of 'courageous conservatives' to restore our country. This is an effort to take his role in the shutdown of 2013 and turn it into a positive by saying, in essence, I had the courage to take on this issue."

I remember reading back pages news items about the results of at least two newspapers who actually went back and counted all the ballots in Florida themselves. Their results were not publicized widely because Bush won that contest.
I was a bit surprised - I expected Rove to be a back-handed naysayer and he seemed a bit more balanced than usual.
The difference here is that Cruz is smart enough to be accounted among the best of them without being corrupted and captured by the pervasive liberal groupthink that goes with those institutions.
