Pupils at a primary school were banned from watching today's once-in-a-generation eclipse because of 'religious and cultural reasons', it has emerged. Parents of children at North Primary School in Southall, London, said they were 'outraged' by the decision and claimed it showed a triumph of 'religious superstition' over scientific education. Phil Belman, whose seven-year-old daughter goes to the school, met with headteacher Ivor Johnstone who said he was unable to elaborate on the decision because of 'confidentiality'. [snip]
The headteacher said: 'The school made this decision when we became aware of religious and cultural concerns associated with observing an eclipse directly [snip]
North Primary School, which is non-denominational, is rated as outstanding by Ofsted. It's cultural policy stated that it is 'committed to an inclusive ethos based on the respect for and positive acknowledgement of ethnic, cultural and religious diversity. 'We strive to prepare all pupils for living in a multi-cultural, multi-faith and multi-ethnic society and are committed to promoting race equality in all dimensions of the school's life and community.'

Comment: Liberal idiots running this school. This is from the UK, but we have our own here in the US. These people should not be allowed anywhere near children. We need to change the school system so people like this are weeded out, not giving positions of authority.
Let me guess before I go read the article..... The ‘cultural and religious’ reason is muzzie based?
Is it because it is smack dab in the middle of a Blood Moon Tetrad?
Gosh, back in the day, we were told not to look because our eyeballs would melt. Nothing religious about that!
Have never heard of any religious and cultural concerns associated with observing an eclipse directly.
What in the world are they talking about?
Yea, I'm just guessing, but I bet I'm not too far off the mark.
Don’t wanna piss off the moon god while he’s changing clothes?
Must be one of those shadow religions.
I suppose Jonathan Cahn videos are out of the question then?
‘I asked the headteacher to elaborate which religions and which cultures? But he said it had to be confidential.”
I just cannot guess.
The death of the crescent ..
I like that!
Thanks!!
Those darn djinns.
I was asked to visit a school in the USA to docent the kids through a partial solar eclipse. I had shade 14 glass, pinhole cameras, a projection telescope, styrofoam “sun” and “moon”, plus handouts.
There were teachers there who went ballistic at the thought of the kids being outdoors due to the danger inherent in sunlight. I won out, but clearly their response was irrational and superstitious, it had nothing to do with safety. These three teachers had taped black paper over a window in one classroom to keep the eclipse out.
You’d have to see a vid of them ranting to see what I mean- they were out of their minds with fear and were transferring it to concern for the safety of others.
A message to the deprived kids in the posted article- there are solar eclipses somewhere, on an average of every 18 months. You may need to travel a bit (like to St Louis in 2017) but an eclipse is NOT a once-in-a-generation event anymore.
My thought exactly. Apparently some moronic Christian preachers are out there claiming this is a sign that the end of the world is approaching.
A total solar eclipse visible somewhere on the Earth occurs on average about once every 1.5 years.
Which means there have been more than 1300 since Jesus last sojourn on Earth.
Yes, the end of the world is approaching.
But we might as well get a good look at it.
That was in a Mel Gibson Movie!
English schools are just as dumb as American schools.
