You could call it one of the world's longest games of hide and seek.
For more than 20 years, the Ili pika (Ochotona iliensis), a type of tiny, mountain-dwelling mammal with a teddy bear face, had eluded scientists in the Tianshan Mountains (map) of northwestern China.

And isn’t special how they threw in a lie about global warming being the cause of pikas’ dwindling numbers. Also...they call it a CARNIVORE, but later on say that it lives on herbs, roots and grasses(?!). Somebody needs to get their story straight. And don’t look for them in zoos anytime soon. The Chinese gubmint will be very stingy with them, a la, the Pandas.
