Well, for now, ‘it’ missed the U.S, which let’s 0bama off the hook, and all of us a little safer.

I was 3 miles from the Epicenter of the Northridge Quake.

I honestly thought I was going to die.

If you have never experienced a huge quake — DON’T.

It isn’t even so much the shaking — it is the SOUND! It is like being inside a giant jackhammer.

Prayers for the citizens of Bogota.

Los Angeles is the most prepared place in the world fr Earthquakes. The laws have been changing on building since 1907 — and after the Northridge quake they reinforced every single overpass post in the entire county.

For that part of things, L.A. had it right.

I suspect Bogota is not so well prepared. Concrete turns to killing debris quickly.

the ring of fire is heating up!

Actually, it's pretty quiet around the ring of fire this week.

The following is a link to download the program EARTHQUAKE 3D. See earthquake patterns and activity around the entire globe instantly. Zoom in/out, spin the planet to any point you wish. Change the duration and seismic level to view. Multiple options that are fun to use.

Simply go to the link (scroll down to DOWNLOAD FREE EDITION) , download the program (takes like 10 seconds). Then RUN it.

It doesn't need a browser to run in. It is self contained, simple and easy. AND IT'S FREE.

EARTHQUAKE 3D

Earth shivers is one thing..

New York City needs to look UP!.. before they look down..

as does... London, Paris, Bejing, Moscow, and quite other places..

Certainly. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do. I spent a half hour playing with it when I first ran it.

It allows you to instantly spot larger earthquakes instantly, and you can see ‘patterns’ of activity that no other program/website does.

You can see more in 2 seconds than you can if you spend an hour on USGS. And this program uses the USGS data so it’s accurate.

I was 3 miles from the Epicenter of the Northridge Quake.

Some of my ex-inlaws were one mile away. Their 10 yo son slept through it.

...in the top bunk!

Hmmm... I've had EQ3D on my PC for years, and never had a problem.

I've had Google Earth and had some problems (crashing) but never 'lost' it.

Each time I downloaded it Google earth it would run for a few days...and then Voila...simply be rendered missing in inaction.

neither the Macs Finder nor any third party apps could find it

I simply gave it up.
