I respect Cruz for telling the truth and not pandering. I don’t know what to think about Walker. It seems he’s shifted opinions on a few things now.
I am also intrigued by Cruz, though I (just from my own standpoint) am a bit more interested by Walker so far.
I am however quite intrigued by the amount of flack Walker is taking from his opposition, including the left.
That is a very good sign, in my opinion.
The flip-flop suggests to me that Walker may be just another politi-slut. This is disappointing.
Out of the entire field of potential candidates mentioned, Cruz seems to be the only one with integrity. It is damning that most voters seem as if they could not care less about integrity these days...

I respect Walker for saying that. Everyone is sold out on immigration, here is someone who has come over to the right side. Give the guy a chance.
A hint: Don’t comment using repulsive language and think that helps your favorite candidate. It doesn’t.

Yep, the campaign is heating up. My elephant in this race, Scott Walker has stumbled a few times right out of the gate. Not Good!
His turnaround on immigration is confusing.
His backtracking on ethanol is very disappointing.
I have been saying, his record is his resume. It is now looking like Cruz’s speeches and vision just may trump that record.
Not yet (for me), but in an elephant race one big stumble and you get trampled.
Ethanol and its cousin HFCS are not winners. One poisons cars. The other poisons people. Besides that, ethanol isn't even necessary; there's plenty of oil to fill the need.
It isn’t the oil companies keeping ethanol from competing without mandates.
It’s ethanol.
Given a choice, I would not choose to ruin my engines with ethanol. Ethanol is an inferior product whose sole existence is based on machinations from Washington. The public is forced to buy a product it doesn’t want. Like Obamacare
If Walker had said he favored phasing Obamacare out over an unspecified period of time, how would that go over? But. But. The market disruptions it would cause! Gasp! This is no different except republicans presidential candidates are supposed to pander in Iowa, therefore, it gets a pass.
I’ll hold my judgment on Walker. I’ll give him a chance. But. This was a pander. The explanation that there is no market for ethanol without the Fed’s boot print on the marketplace should alarm rather than encourage conservatives.
In truth, there is no market for ethanol without a federal jackboot. And. There never will be.
I like him.

Man, that’s putting it lightly! Sad to say...
Previously, I thought Walker was ok - nothing really wrong with him, but I couldn’t make the connection between his positions and the support he was getting. He didn’t seem to really stand-out to me. I wasn’t turned off by him and was interested to hear what he had to say.
Now with his growing list of flip-flops, he’s getting a bit too Kerry-esque for me. Which of his different positions on the issues should I trust -or- should I trust none of them? Heck, does Walker *himself* even believe what he’s saying or is he just parroting what some campaign advisor is telling him to say? Does he think for himself or is he being “managed”?
At this point, I’m not sure what to think about him. Is he turning into a politi-slut right before our very eyes who will merely tell you what he thinks you want to hear?
In Wisconsin, Walker has gutted the power of unions, a major Democrat constituency and a source of much of their money and activists. He did so in the face of rioting and death threats against his family.
Cruz says a lot of nice things. What has Cruz DONE which has had a lasting conservative impact? What are his accomplishments besides some speeches?
My personal policy is "Ignore what they say, watch what they do".

That’s a puzzler with Walker. He’s on both sides of some big issues and fighting the unions (which is laudible) doesn’t clear him of pandering and flip-flopping. I don’t want to be in a situation where, “We have to first elect him in order to see what we will get.” I want to have a reasonably confident idea of who I’m voting for.
If he is “evolving” now, what is my assurance that once elected, he won’t “evolve” again on some pretty “easy-to-get-right” basic issues?
Is he for common-core or against it? I’m unsure.
Is he for amnesty or against it? I’m unsure.
Is he for reining in the EPA on ethanol or against it? I’m unsure.
Maybe he is... Maybe he isn’t... Does his position get (ahem) “nuanced” depending on the crowd he’s addressing? Sure sounds like it.
One thing I like about Cruz is that he’s consistent to the extent that he’s willing to take flak from multiple directions for his positions -AND- does an admirable job defending himself when it happens. That’s much easier to do if you are consistent in your principles and positions. It’s been too long since we had a candidate that had that capability and was willing to use it and let the cards fall where they may.
However, there’s a long campaign trail ahead and in my view, Walker just demoted himself a bit while Cruz became a bit more admirable. I’m sure there will be plenty of opportunities for position jockeying ahead before I vote in the primary.
He’s shifted his immigration stance several times now. I can’t keep up with him.

I’m starting to see a pattern with him. It’s almost like he is developing his positions on the fly. He speaks and the next week either a spokesman comes out and clarifies his remarks or he has decided he’s changed his mind.
I have been surprised that Walker has been doing this. He always seemed to be a pretty direct and focused guy as governor. It’s hard for me to know when he is telling the truth and when he is sticking his finger in the wind and saying what he thinks we want to hear. It makes me feel like I’m being hoodwinked.
I don’t get that feeling with Cruz. He seems to be pretty steady and upfront with his beliefs for the most part.
Yup. The bidding has begun. Step right up ladies and gentlemen... principles are for sale to the highest bidder! You political candidates bend, duck, dodge, waffle and outright dance to the latest cause with the most money. They’ll do it unti8l one of them is finally elected and K street calls with even more money that you fools in the electorate have.
