That's exactly right. I know that there are people on the internet/public that act like everyone out there is at fault if not on a heightened state of alert for every eventuality 100% of the time, but many of us are not Sherlock Holmes. This neighbour happens to be the one that came forth and got his name in the news. How many others heard it and didn't think anything of it? If I'm in my apartment, and I'm hearing the baby cry night and day, that would be different.
None of my business ...
When humans no longer recognize the agony of another human ... they (we?) are no longer human
And THAT'S how we are losing America
The enemy understands human nature and how to destroy it without our even being aware of it ... conquest is a piece of cake
I don’t think the neighbor should blame himself. If I were to call 911 every time I heard a baby cry in our neighborhood I would never get off the phone.
I wont attack, I simply will not vote the lesser of two evils ever again.
(meekly) yes, sir
They got the message and because parents are scared to death of parenting, our kids grow up to be adults with a few bricks missing from their structure.
I am very attuned to something sounding out ... a noise in the car, f'rinsatnce, but I don't think there is a sense of what (sounds) right or wrong, so there is no way to compare / contrast
We ARE in need of psychotherapy, folks ... our brains' wiring is copper in a fiber world
I didn’t say anything about the drug war.
It says apparent OD in the OP. I am not implying that she was killed by the Drug War, in case you perceived that. My point stands irrespective of how she died.
And I didn’t say anything about drug use.
Yes, I understand your point. :) But just wanted to point out to all that in the more detailed piece it stated it hadn’t been determined yet how she died.
Going public with his failure to take even anonymous action is an attempt to assuage what must be a terrible personal guilt ... It won’t.
If only some douchebag conservative would have helped the mother and baby with a drug law because your method is in practice and clearly effective. Its not like your standing on a childs corpse....
See, this is why libertarian theory doesn’t get anywhere. It’s too bad because it offers a lot to the political discourse. It’s just that those who espouse the theory can’t get past rabid, mindless advocacy for universal legalization.
Wow...what an beautiful and uplifting story.../ S
Remember, drug use is a private personal decision that affects no one but the user...
I guess he had a few days to find one.
Are you running for office as a Democrat? Thieves steal call boxes too. As long as city dwellers pay for it and not the rest of us, have at it. There isn't a respectable socialist utopia anywhere without call boxes.
Not so simple - crying babies and their mothers are an extremely heavily protected class in this country. I did not live anywhere near a slum, but one time I finally called the cops after a baby kept screaming its guts out (not "crying," this sounded like the kid was being murdered), only to stop, eventually, by a "thump" against the wall. This went on for five solid MONTHS, since my complex refused to acknowledge a "crying" baby as an annoyance. Nevertheless, one night, after enduring many hours of this madness, I got fed up and reported it to the police.
So you're thinking "child protective services" or something like that? Don't make me laugh.
Instead, I shortly had two cops at MY door giving me the third degree, dismissing everything I told them, and making it extremely clear that they considered ME the problem for my lack of "tolerance," and were HIGHLY irritated with me. And any speculations I had having to with possible drug activity or child abuse by the parents was considered to be virtual slander on my part. And oh yeah, lemme see your ID.
Since then, my attitude is screw it. I feel very much for these children, but there is simply nothing that can be done to help them. It seems the government wants a new generation of people as totally messed up as possible, and this is one way they're achieving that goal. And do you know what their justification is? That it's "for the children." Which is technically correct, it IS for the children, just not in the way you think.
911 is joke anyhow. Let’s end the socialist police force and go with private security and private investigators altogether, m’kay?
The Key
It’s times like this that I think every drug addict should be taken out back and summarily executed.
I don’t think a man would know the difference between a regular cry and a pain cry unless he was a father.
