A neighbor says he heard the cries of a 9-month-old boy who authorities believe later starved after his mother died of an apparent overdose inside their Pittsburgh-area apartment.
William Gonzalez tells the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review ( http://bit.ly/1BdYU7k ) he heard the cries of little Casey Kessler when he went in and out of the apartment building in Millvale but didn't think much of it at the time. Gonzalez says he feels horrible.

And had he done anything and all was OK, he`d have been hung out to dry for questioning a member of one of the victim classes, a single mother, (addict) most likely on welfare. And the Hispanic affiliation would be moot, lefties gladly eat there own, heard of Senator Menendez?
Mom was a junkie. I bet that poor baby cried quite often.

The baby is in heaven now, spared of a lifetime of pain and disappointment, probably. Or maybe he would have contributed something great to the world. Either way, God took one of His before the World has a chance to corrupt him.

This story is all over the local news this morning. How heartbreaking! I was sick to my stomach after watching the story.
Then again, how many Freepers here would really advocating calling child protective services on a month just because her baby cried?

He could have called the police or even 911, even anonymously.
The guy was a head in the sand idiot and deserves to feel guilty for not making a simple anonymous phone call.
That child must have cried for 2 days or more before dying of dehydration
When`s the last time you saw a working payphone? I`ve heard that in all of North Eastern Ohio there are only two payphones and they are way south of Akron in Amish country, and only because they fought to keep them!
His mother was a junkie, how many times do you think that kid wailed for attention when she was out scoring drugs? Or after she passed out from them or was passed out from a bender on them? The cops should have been called long before she kicked off, and you cry about after? PLEASE!

Huh? Does he know the baby was 9 months old? Poor kid couldn’t even look for food.
Sad that her brother was checking on her after not hearing from her “for several days”. The article, however, says she could have been dead for two weeks.
I feel for the person who heard the baby crying but it didn’t register with him at the time that there may be something wrong. He was just coming and going from the building, and I imagine a baby crying was not unusual.
This horrible tragedy just shines the light on the real problem. Single girl. Out-of-wedlock birth. A likely disconnected and dysfunctional family of origin. Drugs. Just another sad statistic of a brave new liberal society.
What “Hispanic affiliation”? There have been Gonzalez’ in what is now the US for longer than there have been Smiths...and half of (authentically) blonde California girls have Spanish last names from some ancestor was many generations back.
I don’t think there’s any ethnic connection with any of this.
God, that’s heartwrenching and tragic. That poor child..
