Word has been circling for some time that Disney is mulling a reboot of the Indiana Jones series and wants Guardians of the Galaxy star Chris Pratt to take the whip. Deadline is now reporting that Steven Spielberg himself is interested in stepping behind the camera should all the pieces fall into place.
It's remarkably early for this kind of news Jeff Sneider of The Wrap points out that there's no contractual obligation or even script at this point but any kind of reboot would certainly gain immediate prestige coming from Spielberg. The filmmaker directed all four of the original films in the series, a run that started back in 1981 with Raiders of the Lost Ark. Of course, it also unfortunately included Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, a movie that failed to work in almost every single regard (other than getting Harrison Ford back into costume in the first place).

Add Jar Jar Binks as the alien who arrives to look for the aliens with the crystal skull. He will have furry animals helping him and Indy......
Spielberg is a big lib, but a master director.
Chris Pratt totally ROCKED GOTG and is a natural to be Indiana Jones. Hell, he even LOOKS like Indiana Jones.
Once again, no new ideas coming from Hollywood. Just about every reboot looses its flavor on the bed post overnight.
Watch the modern version of “Conan the Barbarian” the other night ... sad, so very sad.
Indiana Jones is a franchise. It is the equivalent to the Bond franchise or Star Wars.
no, b/c in 20 years he’ll add in different effects and redo thenwhole’damn thing. take all the guns and turn them into homosexual dildoes or stupid crap like he did with et.
I actually liked Crystal Skull better than Temple of Doom (though they are both by far, the two weakest films of the four). Shia Lebouef was a very poor casting choice for the role of Indy's son and weighed the movie down, but apart from that, other aspects of the film IMHO captured the cold war atmosphere and intrigue of the 50s...
Why must everyone redo classics? I’m not going to see this. Kingdom of the Crystal Skull was bad enough.
Did you see super-8? He’s had his time I’m thinking. Some brilliant work but recently? He needs to go sit and chat with George Lucas and find a new hobby.
It’s a FRANCHISE. Not a remake.
TOD was 2nd best. Crystal Skull was not good. Last Crusade was not that great. Not a huge special effects fan, but Last Crusade was probably the worst special effects I’ve ever seen.
Plus, watching Last Crusade is probably illegal in the current climate.
LOL...
Are we going to be ‘preached to’ in this flick, too?
Couldn't agree more! The version with Arnie was indeed "high adventure" and Basil Poledourous' music was perfect! One of the best soundtracks ever written.
The more recent version comes across as a cocky Fabio!
WTF???
I tell you what he did to et made me make sure to hang onto my original copy. liberal revisionist putz he is.
Out of ideas.
Peaked with ‘Temple of Doom’
Thirty years on the downslope..
He peaked with “Duel.”
